🌟 A Heartfelt Tribute: Prof. M U Jayasekara Memorial Scholarship Launched! 🌟

On September 23, 2025, we gathered with immense pride and gratitude to launch the Prof. M.U. Jayasekara Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduates of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. This initiative honours the legacy of our visionary Founding Dean, Prof. Upali Jayasekara, who led our faculty from February 5, 1997, to May 22, 2004, shaping it into a beacon of excellence in agricultural education.

We are deeply grateful to the staff members of the Faculty, whose generous contributions made this scholarship possible, reflecting their commitment to uplifting bright and deserving students. It was extraordinary to have representatives from the Jayasekara family join us, Mr Mathali Jayasekara (Prof. Upali's brother), his wife, and his son.

Mr Mathali expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the faculty’s efforts to support students in overcoming financial barriers to pursue their dreams. In a remarkable act of solidarity, he also generously contributed to ensure the scholarship's continuation, empowering future leaders!

Our motto captures the essence of this initiative: “Together, we are building a brighter future through education.” This scholarship is more than financial aid; it’s a promise of hope, encouragement, and endless possibilities.
