To truly understand Eid al-Adha, you have to look at the story that grounds it. It honors the profound devotion of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was tested by God in a dream to sacrifice his most beloved possession—his son, Ismail.
Instead of turning away, both father and son showed complete, unshakeable trust in God's wisdom. As Ibrahim was about to make the sacrifice, God intervened, replacing Ismail with a ram. 🙌🐑
The True Meaning of Sacrifice: The Arabic word Qurbani actually stems from the root word Qurb, which means closeness. The holiday isn't about blood or meat; it’s a symbolic reminder to sacrifice our own egos, selfishness, and worldly attachments to get closer to God and to humanity. ❤️
