FM Summaiyah of Sussex College Badulla was rewarded by the Uva Provincial Library Service Board recognizing her book Curious Bunny which was published under the “1st Book 2025” program organized by the Uva Provincial Library Service Board. Program was aimed at producing young authors in Uva province. Summaiyah was one of the many young authors who had the privilege to published a book under the “1st Book 2025” program . Her Curious Bunny published under children English stories category.
We thank Uva Provincial Library Service Board for organizing such a program to set a stage for students to develop their writing ability and making them authors.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET OF SUSSEX COLLEGE BADULLA

On 6th March 2026, Sussex College Badulla held its Inter-House Annual Sports Meet at the Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla, in a glamorous and elegant manner.

The event was graced by Brigadier Dinesh Bulathsinhala, the 12 Brigade Commander, who is also an enthusiastic sportsman. His presence added great honour and glamour to the sports meet. N. M. Anas, a former world carrom runner-up and several-time national carrom champion, attended the event as a special guest. Our Deputy Director of Sports, Ruwan Pradeep Perera, represented the Chairman, K. A. Sunil Jayathissa, as the Guest of Honour.

The meet was enriched with a well-coordinated drill display and a colourful march past by the students. Harvard House emerged as the champions this year, defeating Stanford House and Cambridge House, which secured the second and third places respectively.

The Annual Sports Meet was a wonderful platform for our students to improve their athletic skills, gain valuable experience in healthy competition, and develop leadership qualities.

The Mini Graduation of Sussex College Badulla was proudly held on 10th January 2026 at the
Simon Peiris Memorial Hall, Badulla, marking a beautiful milestone in the lives of our little
graduates.
The occasion was graciously honored by Dr. M. M. S. N. Prematileke, Senior Lecturer (Grade I)
in the Department of Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Uva Wellassa
University of Sri Lanka, whose presence added great value and inspiration to the event.
The ceremony was filled with joy, pride, and celebration as our young Sussexians stepped
forward into a new chapter of their educational journey. It was a heartwarming event that
reflected the dedication of our teachers, the support of parents, and the bright future of our
students.
Throughout the year, our LKG and UKG students actively engaged in a wide range of age-
appropriate academic activities designed to build strong foundations for lifelong learning.
These included early literacy and numeracy skills, phonics, reading readiness, creative writing,
hands-on mathematics, environmental studies, and interactive learning activities. Through play-
based learning, storytelling, art, music, and group work, the children developed confidence,
communication skills, creativity, and independent thinking in a joyful classroom environment.
This mini graduation proudly celebrated not only their growth in knowledge but also their
social, emotional, and cognitive development—preparing them confidently for the next stage of
their schooling journey.
The Mini Graduation 2025 was a truly memorable day for the Sussex College Badulla family!

🎉✨ Freshers’ Welcome 2026 – Sussex College Badulla ✨🎉
The Freshers’ Welcome of Sussex College Badulla 2026 was joyfully held on 23rd January 2026 at the Provincial Library Auditorium, warmly welcoming our new students to the LKG, UKG, and Grade 1 classes.
The event was filled with colour, energy, and happiness, featuring vibrant dances and the enchanting melodies performed by our talented Sussexians, making the occasion truly memorable.
We were honoured to have the Chief Guest, College Principal and former Brigadier Mr. J. M. C. Jayaweera, whose inspiring presence added great value to this special celebration.
Here’s to a beautiful beginning and a wonderful academic journey ahead for our little stars! 🌟🎓

Sussex College Badulla proudly celebrated Independence Day on 3rd February 2026 at the college premises with great patriotism and enthusiasm.

The event was graced by the Principal, who ceremoniously hoisted the National Flag, marking the significance of the day. The celebration featured inspiring speeches, colourful dances, and melodious songs, reflecting the talents and unity of our students.

To add to the joy, winners of the Art Competition and General Knowledge Quiz Competition were awarded gifts in recognition of their achievements.

It was truly a memorable occasion filled with national pride and youthful spirit. 🇱🇰

Kindergarten Kids of Sussex College Badulla Exhibit Their Handcraft Skills

The Pre-Primary Handcraft Exhibition of Sussex College, Badulla was successfully held on 23rd December 2025 at the Pre-Primary section. The exhibition was organised to showcase the creative handcraft skills of our kindergarten children, which they developed during their time in the Pre-Primary section.

A wide variety of handmade items were displayed, highlighting the talents, creativity, and fine motor skills of the young Sussexians of Badulla. The exhibition reflected the dedication of both students and teachers in nurturing creativity at an early age.

Mr. Prasanna Piyadigama, Psychological Counsellor and Senior Lecturer of HERTI Sri Lanka , graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He highly appreciated the craftsmanship, creativity, and capabilities of the kindergarten children.

Sussex Collage Badulla Extended Support to Disaster Relief Operations of Badulla Teaching Hospital
Sussex College Badulla donated dry rations, sanitary items and cloths to Badulla Teaching Hospital in support of its disaster relief operations. Items were the generous contributions of parents and teachers of Sussex College Badulla. About 15 dry ration packs, 15 kgs of Soya meat, soap, sanitary items and cloths are among the items donated. Donations were handed over to Dr Palitha Rajapaksha the President, GMOA Badulla who is spear heading the Disaster Relief Operation in the Teaching Hospital Badulla . He thanked parents and teachers for helping the initiative
