"I run at 4 A.M. because I know my opponent is still asleep. It gives me an edge." This was Mike Tyson's response when asked if he really trained every day at dawn. Tyson added, "If I find out one of my opponents runs at 4 A.M., I'll start running at 2 A.M. And if someone trains at 2 A.M., I'll stop sleeping altogether to keep training."

Bill Gates was invited by a high school to give a lecture. He arrived by helicopter, took the paper from the pocket where he had written eleven items. He read everything in less than 5 minutes, was applauded for more than 10 minutes non-stop, thanked him and left in his helicopter. What was written is very interesting, read:
1. Life isn't easy — get used to it.
2. The world is not concerned about your self-esteem. The world expects you to do something useful for it BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
A former cleaning lady becomes a chef and fulfils her dream of having her own organic restaurant
True story: A simple (but powerful) gesture of kindness from a CEO
3. You will not earn $20,000 a month once you leave school. You won't be vice president of a company with a car and phone available until you've managed to buy your own car and phone.
4. If you find your teacher rude, wait until you have a boss. He will not feel sorry for you.
5. Selling old newspapers or working while on vacation is not beneath your social standing. Your grandparents have a different word for it: they call it opportunity.
6. If you fail, it's not your parents' fault. So do not whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
7. Before you were born, your parents weren't as critical as they are now. They only got that way from paying your bills, washing your clothes and hearing you say they're "ridiculous." So before saving the planet for the next generation wanting to fix the mistakes of your parent's generation, try cleaning your own room.
8. Your school may have blurred the distinction between winners and losers, but life isn't like that. In some schools, you don't repeat more than a year and you have as many chances as you need to get it right. This looks like absolutely NOTHING in real life. If you step on the ball, you're fired… STREET!!! Do it right the first time!
9. Life is not divided into semesters. You won't always have summers off, and it's unlikely that other employees will help you with your tasks at the end of each term.
10. Television is NOT real life. In real life, people have to leave the bar or the club and go to work.
11. Be nice to the CDFs (those students that others think are as****es). There is a high probability that you will work FOR one of them.”
Know these and know peace. I come in PEACE 😇

Amitabh Bachchan said;
"At the peak of my career, I was once travelling by plane. The passenger next to me was an elderly gentleman dressed in a simple shirt and pants. He appeared to be middle class, and well educated.
Other passengers perhaps recognised who I was, but this gentleman appeared to be unconcerned with my presence... He was reading his paper, looking out of the window, and when tea was served, he sipped it quietly.
"Trying to strike a conversation with him I smiled. The man courteously smiled back and said 'Hello'.
"We got talking and I brought up the subject of cinema and movies and asked, 'Do you watch films?'
"The man replied, 'Oh, very few. I did see one many years ago.'
"I mentioned that I worked in the movie industry.
"The man replied.." oh, that’s nice. What do you do?'
"I replied, 'I am an actor '
"The man nodded, 'Oh, that's wonderful!' And that was it...
"When we landed, I held out my hand and said, " It was good to travel with you. By the way, my name is Amitabh Bachchan!'
"The man shook my hand and smiled, "Thank you... nice to meet you..I am J R D Tata (Chairman of Tata Group)!"
"I learned on that day that no matter how big you think you are, there is always someone bigger.
Be humble, it costs nothing"

An old man meets a young man who asks:
“Do you remember me?”
And the old man says no. Then the young man tells him he was his student, And the teacher asks:
“What do you do, what do you do in life?”
The young man answers:
“Well, I became a teacher.”
“ah, how good, like me?” Asks the old man.
“Well, yes. In fact, I became a teacher because you inspired me to be like you.”
The old man, curious, asks the young man at what time he decided to become a teacher. And the young man tells him the following story:
“One day, a friend of mine, also a student, came in with a nice new watch, and I decided I wanted it.
I stole it, I took it out of his pocket.
Shortly after, my friend noticed the his watch was missing and immediately complained to our teacher, who was you.
Then you addressed the class saying, ‘This student's watch was stolen during classes today. Whoever stole it, please return it.’
I didn't give it back because I didn't want to.
You closed the door and told us all to stand up and form a circle.
You were going to search our pockets one by one until the watch was found.
However, you told us to close our eyes, because you would only look for his watch if we all had our eyes closed.
We did as instructed.
You went from pocket to pocket, and when you went through my pocket, you found the watch and took it. You kept searching everyone's pockets, and when you were done you said ‘open your eyes. We have the watch.’
You didn't tell on me and you never mentioned the episode. You never said who stole the watch either. That day you saved my dignity forever. It was the most shameful day of my life.
But this is also the day I decided not to become a thief, a bad person, etc. You never said anything, nor did you even scold me or take me aside to give me a moral lesson.
I received your message clearly.
Thanks to you, I understood what a real educator needs to do.
Do you remember this episode, professor?
The old professor answered, ‘Yes, I remember the situation with the stolen watch, which I was looking for in everyone’s pocket. I didn't remember you, because I also closed my eyes while looking.’
This is the essence of teaching:
If to correct you must humiliate; you don't know how to teach.”

Mrs. Vithanage Lilawathi Asilin Dharmaratne, a 97-year-old graduate, graduated with a Master of Arts Degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya at its 143rd General Convocation held on the 21st of August 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
It was awarded to Mrs. Dharmaratne by the Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, Aggamahapanditha Most Ven. Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Maha Thera.
Born on the 30th of November 1927, in Millawa, Horana, Mrs. Lilawathi displayed a passion for education from a young age. She attended Girls' College, Millawa, and in 1946, she successfully sat for the G. C. E. (O/L) examination in both English and Sinhala mediums. Her academic prowess led her to be appointed as an English medium teacher shortly after, and by 1955, she started her career at Ruggahawila Meewala Mixed School. However, her career took a different turn when she pursued her ambition to become a notary public. Mrs. Lilawathi was honoured in 1962 for passing the notary examination with distinction, becoming the only woman who passed the exam that year, securing first place.
Her achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a significant event in the history of higher education in Sri Lanka. It reflects the commitment of the University of Kelaniya to fostering lifelong learning and has raised the university's reputation as a leader in promoting education at all stages of life.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Deans of the Faculties, Registrar, Librarian, Academic and Non-Academic Staff, graduands, and their families graced the event.
