Different country. Different schedule. Same things somehow keep finding their way in. Sauna, cold water, movement, tea and something new to explore. Consistency doesn’t have to be boring or perfect. It just has to be yours.

For some people (like me), yoga, massage, sauna and a cold plunge is biohacking before a long flight. For other people (also me 😂), it’s just a regular Monday on a tropical island. Funny how much our definition of “normal” depends on the life we create for ourselves. What life are you creating for yourself?

We don’t really talk about death. We fear it, avoid it and mostly pretend it’s not coming until we have no choice.

Then you see a funeral in Bali that looks more like a parade than a funeral. Of course they mourn here too, they just seem to have a very different relationship with death.
It made me wonder how much of our fear of death is actually ours and how much we simply learned. And if fear can be learned, what else are we afraid of just because we were taught to be?

We have all these unwritten rules about when we’re supposed to do things. Coffee in the morning. Sauna at the end of the day. Dinner at 7. Somewhere along the way, routine starts feeling like a rule. Sometimes it’s worth changing it up just to see what happens. Apparently 8 am is also a perfectly reasonable time to sweat for no reason. 😂

Apparently you don’t have to climb the mountain every time you see one. 😂

We all have routines. Coffee in the morning, a walk, a workout, making tea. Most of the time we’re just trying to get through them so we can move on to whatever is next.

What if we did the opposite? Same tea. Same cup. Just a ridiculous amount of pots. 😂 Maybe the difference between a routine and a ritual isn’t what you do. It’s how much of you actually shows up for it.

We spend so much time waiting for the path to become obvious. Waiting until we know it’s safe, until we know it’ll work, until we’re sure we’re making the right decision. But most of the time, clarity doesn’t come before the first step. It comes because of it.

I still listen to podcasts. Just not on my walks anymore.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I’d filled every quiet moment with someone else’s voice. I forgot to leave room for my own.
Turns out, my mind had a few things to say too.

We don’t speak the same language.
I asked him what made him happy today.

He smiled….and said, “Yes.”

I still have no idea what he meant.
But somehow, I walked away feeling like we understood each other.

From a distance, almost everything looks perfect.

A relationship. A career. A vacation. Even someone else’s life.

Get a little closer and you’ll usually find crowds, detours, imperfections, and a story you couldn’t see from where you were standing. Funny how that’s true for travel... and just about everything else in life.

What’s something you got closer to that turned out to be completely different than you expected?
