FAREWELL MR. JOSEPH AVRIL
The George Charles Secondary School community wishes to express our deep sense of loss upon learning of the death of Mr. Joseph Avril.
Mr. Avril was a long-serving member of the Science Department specializing in Agricultural Science. He was a steady and calming influence on staff known for dedication to his subject, his strong expectations of discipline and a talent for reaching out to our more troubled students. His interventions greatly helped in steering many of our boys and girls onto a more settled and productive path.
Mr Avril’s Homeroom Students remember him with love and respect. His colleagues remember a soft-spoken man with the ability to clearly see through to the heart of a situation. When asked, he shared a wealth of experience, wisdom and good sense.
Mr. Avril recently retired, looking forward to many more years with his people and his animals. His sudden and premature death is a shock to us all and we wish to share our condolences with his family and friends.
Mr. Avril was a good man and will be missed by many, though his legacy will endure.
Gone far too soon.
Found a few photographs when I was checking some old files.
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Miss Carol Noel a former Visual Arts / Clothing and Textile teacher at the George Charles Secondary School. She died after a long battle with Cancer. Carol will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, great sense of humor and immense creative talent. She deeply cared about the students she taught and knew the power of the creative process in enriching their lives. Thank You Carol for allowing us to be a part of your journey.
