Summer Camp fun, the kids baked a cake then enjoyed a trip to Kidz Zone the following day.

Presently our teachers are participating in an eight-week Children's Mental Health summer series entitled: Helping my Kid Thrive.

Some of the topics are:
1. Healthy Relationships
2. Communication Skills
3. Conflict Resolution
4. Trauma and Brain Development
5. Executive Functions
6. ADHD in Children

Our teachers regularly participate in workshops to ensure their continued growth and competence in guiding the development of the children in their care while learning to deal with difficult or challenging situations. One recent workshop was entitled "Challenging Behaviours in Children". Topics covered included:

1. Patterns of behaviour that affect children and those around them.
2. There is always a reason for a child's behaviour.
3. Every child is different.
4. Instill self-control in a child.
5. Managing your own self-control.
6. The importance of communication with children.

Mary Jane's Care and Learning Centre is the legacy of Julietta Josephine Mitchell-Stewart who founded it in her mother's name in 2008. This school represents her life's passion and love for children and her skill, experience and education in early childhood education. Children feel loved and nurtured while learning all of the concepts necessary while preparing for kindergarten. Services include daycare for babies, preschool and after-school services including pick-up and drop-off for students at Camille Henry and Carmen Rene primary schools. Opening hours are from 7am to 5pm, making it very convenient for working parents. We may also provide daycare services to special needs kids depending on their particular requirements.
