Disasters are preventable, not inevitable!
As we mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, UNESCO reaffirms its commitment to reducing vulnerability through education and preparedness. In 2024, our focus is on the critical role of youth education in building a disaster-resilient future.
Schools play a crucial role. We’re working to strengthen disaster risk reduction in the education sector and ensure safe learning environments for all. With over 80,000 schools destroyed or damaged since 2000, this is a call to action we can no longer ignore.
