Today, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Dr. Adrian Augier, a distinguished St. Lucian poet, producer, and writer, for his unwavering support to the Hunter J François Library's slam since its inception in 2011. With an illustrious career centered on capturing the essence of life in St. Lucia, Dr. Augier's writings and productions have earned nationwide acclaim. He co-founded the Lighthouse Theater and the Factor Creative Arts Centre in St. Lucia, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape. 🎭

In honor of St. Lucia's independence anniversaries, Dr. Augier penned and produced the acclaimed shows "Anthem" (2004) and "Esperance" (2009), garnering national headlines. His latest publication, "Navel String," delves deep into St. Lucian life, culture, and politics, showcasing his profound understanding of his homeland.

Beyond his contributions to the arts, Dr. Augier holds a background in economics and has played pivotal roles in discussions at the World Bank, European Union, United Nations, and more. Once a sitting senator of St. Lucia and former Chief Economist in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, his impact resonates far beyond the realm of culture.

Today, as our library embarks on the 2024 Annual Poetry Slam with the support of incredible coaches like Dr. Augier, we stand on the shoulders of giants, inspired by his dedication and creativity.

We want to thank Dr. Adrian Augier, for meeting with our student poets today and for his enduring commitment to nurturing talent and enriching our cultural heritage!
