The Department of Media and Communication at EIU hosted attorney Nermin Al-Ahmad, member of Tripoli Bar Association, in legal discussion pertaining Article 47 of the Lebanese Criminal Code.
The seminar focused on the rights of individuals suspected of crimes who are required to appear before investigators at police stations, and on how to protect these individuals from potential abuse or risk of violence that may affect them during detention periods, which are set by the law at 48 hours.
The session included interventions and questions from attendees (both admin. and students alike).
At the end of the session, the University President, Dr. Nazih Al-Jor, and the Dean of the Faculty of Literature, Dr. Mohammad Alameddine, presented a trophy of appreciation and gratitude to attorney Al-Ahmad for her participation and contribution to the seminar.
استضاف قسم الاعلام في كلية الاداب في جامعة الشرق الدولية (EIU) عضو نقابة المحامين في طرابلس الاستاذة نيرمين الاحمد في لقاء حواري حول آليات تطبيق المادة ٤٧ من قانون اصول المحاكمات الجزائية (ا.م.ج).
تمحور موضوع الندوة حول حقوق الافراد المشتبه بهم والذين يتوجب عليهم المثول امام المحققين في المخافر وكيفية حماية هؤلاء الاشخاص من اي تعسف او عنف قد يطالهم اثناء فترات الاحتجاز التي حددها القانون ب ٤٨ ساعة.
تخللت الندوة مداخلات واستفسارات من الحاضرين (ادارة وطلاب على السواء).
وبنهاية اللقاء قدم رئيس الجامعة الدكتور نزيه الجر وعميد كلية الاداب الدكتور محمد علم الدين درع شكر وتقدير للمحامية نيرمين الاحمد.
