NDU represented by its President, Fr. Bechara El Khoury, signed a Cooperation Protocol with H.E. Ahmad Al-Hajjar, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, to strengthen collaboration in the field of local governance.

The partnership aims to advance specialized training and municipal capacity building, while promoting good governance, transparency, digital transformation, and academic and research cooperation in local administration.

Through this collaboration, NDU and the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities reaffirm their commitment to bridging academic expertise with public-sector needs and contributing to stronger municipal institutions and more effective public services.

From NDU’s FMR Observatory (Department of Physics and Astronomy, FNAS), overlooking the Mediterranean, we proudly share one of the very first recordings from our newly installed Global Meteor Network station.

Captured on the night of July 26–27, 2026, these fleeting streaks of light are meteors, which are small space rocks glowing as they enter Earth’s atmosphere at incredible speeds.

This milestone marks NDU’s official participation in the Global Meteor Network. Our station will now monitor the sky every clear night, contributing valuable data to help scientists study meteor trajectories, origins, and their links to comets and asteroids.
