Three evenings. Three courses. One opportunity to go deeper.

This fall, NEST is offering three evening courses, and you are welcome to register for one, two, or all three.

Classes begin the week of September 7, 2026 and meet weekly throughout the Fall semester from 7:00–9:30 PM.

Join us for:

Tuesday — Ministry of Reconciliation: Equipping Leaders for Justice, Memory, and Public Healing with Dr. Chaden Hani
Wednesday — Contemporary Issues in Christian Ethics with Dr. Peter Sensenig
Thursday — Intro to Church History I: from the beginning to the Reformation with Dr. Caleb Hutcherson

3 credits per course
Special rate: $100 per credit instead of the regular $250

Whether you are especially interested in peace and reconciliation, Christian ethics, or church history, these courses offer a meaningful opportunity to study at NEST in a format designed for evening learners.

We are pleased to share highlights from Dr. Martin Accad’s contribution to the NCCMR Annual Symposium, held in Cairo, Egypt.

In his address, Dr. Accad reflected on the history and theological questions that have shaped Christian–Muslim encounters, emphasizing that the goal of dialogue is not necessarily theological agreement, but deeper understanding of one another.

This commitment to thoughtful and respectful Christian–Muslim engagement remains an important part of NEST’s mission.

Our thanks to Dr. Wageeh Mikhail and the NCCMR - Network of Centers for Christian-Muslim Relations team for the invitation and for creating a space where these important conversations can continue.

We are pleased to see members of the NEST community contributing to important conversations beyond our campus.

Our faculty member, Dr. Issa Diab, recently represented the Near East School of Theology at the Association of Theological Institutes in the Middle East - ATIME General Assembly in Cairo, where participants explored the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into theological education.

It was also a joy to see several of our current students and graduates taking part in the gathering, reflecting NEST’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful scholarship, collaboration, and the future of theological education.

We are grateful for this opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the region and beyond.

As part of our commitment to cultivating greater religious literacy among faith communities, the Near East School of Theology responded to a request from the NGO Tahaddi Lebanon to receive a group of 27 adolescent youths who had studied Christianity during their History lessons. The students asked if they could visit a church, and arrangements were made to address their questions about Christian beliefs and traditions.

NEST President Dr. Martin Accad, in coordination with Rev. Dr. Rima Rima Nasrallah , pastor of the National Evangelical Church, and Father Agapios Abouna Agapios Kfoury of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Saint Elijah, both in downtown Beirut, welcomed the youths at the two churches and responded to their many thoughtful and inquisitive questions.

Altogether, this represented an important opportunity for participants to meet across traditional boundaries. One more expression of NEST’s commitment to interfaith engagement, ecumenism, meaningful dialogue, and building peaceful societies.

Some of the most meaningful conversations begin with an honest question.

Last week, Near East School of Theology had the pleasure of welcoming Afterdark Resurrection Church Resurrection Church’s “Ask a PhD Anything” event, opening its doors to young adults for an evening of honest dialogue and thoughtful reflection.

With participants primarily between the ages of 18 and 22, the discussion explored questions of truth, faith, suffering, purpose, science, identity, and what it means to follow God in today’s world. Their curiosity, honesty, and willingness to engage with life’s deepest questions made for a rich and meaningful conversation.

At NEST, we believe theological education extends beyond the classroom. We are committed to providing a welcoming space where churches, ministries, and young people can gather to engage important questions of faith, life, and meaning. Whether through lectures, forums, workshops, or events such as this one, we are grateful to serve as a venue that fosters thoughtful dialogue and strengthens theological literacy for the wider Church and society.

We extend our thanks to Afterdark RCB for organizing this initiative, to the panelists including Dr. Jana Jabbour, Rev. Dr. Hikmat Kashouh, Dr. Imad Dabbour, and our President, Dr. Martin Accad, and to everyone who participated and contributed to such a meaningful evening.

Some people become so woven into a place that they never truly leave it.

On Saturday, we gathered at NEST to honor and show gratitude to five of our colleagues going on retirement.

Agape, Nona, Maru, Jihane, and Nabil.

It was a lovely time with the friends and family of NEST, sharing food, music, stories, and many warm moments together.

More than anything, it was our chance to say thank you for the years they gave, the work they carried, the kindness they showed, and the quiet ways they helped shape the life of this community.

We are grateful for each one of them, and we wish them joy and blessing in this new chapter.

There is something deeply meaningful about helping others discover the joy and responsibility of teaching God’s word.

This past week, CERC at the Near East School of Theology hosted the workshop Teaching with Confidence: Sharpen Your Bible Teaching Skills, bringing together Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, volunteers, and others passionate about Christian education.

Led by Mrs. Hala Bitar Khoury, participants explored practical approaches to Bible teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and creating engaging learning experiences for children and youth. Through discussion, reflection, and hands-on activities, the workshop offered both encouragement and practical tools for those serving in churches and ministries.

We are grateful for everyone who joined us and for their commitment to nurturing the next generation in faith. May these conversations and learnings continue to bear fruit in classrooms, churches, and communities across our region.

Every week, our Neighbor to Neighbor team visits the nearby shelter, spending time with children whose lives have been deeply affected by displacement.

Together, we play games, sing songs, work on math exercises, and share moments of laughter. While many of the children have been away from school, these activities offer opportunities to continue learning, but also something equally important: connection, encouragement, and joy.

One of our recent activities was a theatrical performance based on a story written by Jamie Melki. The story follows a young bird who is displaced from her home and suffers a broken wing. Through the love of her mother and the support of those around her, she finds hope, healing, and the strength to move forward.

As the children brought the story to life, its message resonated deeply. It reminded us that even in difficult circumstances, care, friendship, and community can help carry us through.

We are grateful for the privilege of sharing these moments with the children each week and for the volunteers who continue to invest their time, creativity, and compassion in this ministry of presence and accompaniment.

A memorable celebration of gratitude and new beginnings!

On Saturday, May 30, the Near East School of Theology held its 93rd Commencement Service, celebrating the achievements of a new generation of graduates called to serve God and their communities. Together with families, friends, faculty, alumni, and church leaders, we gathered in thanksgiving for the dedication, perseverance, and faith that have marked their journey.

We were honored to welcome The Most Reverend Hosam Naoum, Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, as our commencement speaker, sharing words of encouragement and hope for the road ahead.

The celebrations continued with a graduation dinner that brought us all together. It was a joyful evening of fellowship, reflection, and gratitude as we celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 and the community that supported them throughout their journey.

As these graduates embark on the next chapter of their calling, we pray that they will continue to be faithful witnesses, servant leaders, and agents of God’s love and reconciliation in the world.
