Lebanon has been an intense experience at the emotional and cognitive level, so many contrasts, a vibrant capital, people fighting in the every day life to overcome the devastating impact that civil war and foreign attacks have had. Resilience seems to be build upon the memoir of a glorious past and the will to find stability and development...Our visit at the Informal Refugee Settlement, one of the 160 in the Beqaa valley was overwhelming due to the horrible living conditions, the lack of basic health, sanitation, nutritional and educational provisions. Their "stateless" situation, due to the unwillingness of the Government to accept their presence as refugees, is depriving them from their right to Asylum, and has excluded them from any support by Humanitarian Organizations and the UNHCR. In this cold weather and the lack of efficient housing children are born in families that have not much to offer for a normal child development. The future is uncertain and the present very challenging day-after day, while the war keeps tearing lives apart...I leave you with some pictures and will come back with more information on a beneficial event we will organize to gather warm clothing and medicine.
