𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗣 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟲!
The Scholars in Health Research Program (SHARP) at American University of Beirut proudly celebrated the graduation of the 5th cohort of the SHARP Two-Semester Online Diploma on May 22, 2026 — marking another milestone in advancing research leadership and academic excellence across borders.
This year’s cohort brought together 39 exceptional SHARP graduates who successfully completed the rigorous online diploma and delivered outstanding capstone projects in Ethics and Large Datasets, reflecting SHARP’s continued commitment to cultivating the next generation of physician-scientists and health research leaders.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Fadlo Khuri, Raymond Sawaya, Abla Sibai, Ghada El-Hajj Fuleihan, and Hani Tamim, alongside university leadership, SHARP faculty, executive committee members, alumni, families, and friends — all celebrating the achievements of a cohort carrying SHARP’s legacy globally.
A special highlight of the ceremony was the preview of the winning SHARP Ethics project, followed by the conferral of diplomas and a reception where graduates, faculty, and families shared memorable SHARP moments and experiences.
From Beirut to the world, SHARP continues to empower future leaders in health research.

The Scholars in HeAlth Research Program (SHARP) proudly congratulates our MSc graduate, Dr. Hisham Bou Fakhreddine, on his appointment as Vice Chair of the Biomedical Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Dr. Bou Fakhreddine is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at AUBMC, Director of the Respiratory Care Unit, and Associate Director of the Hamdi Al Zaim Interstitial Lung Disease Center. He also serves as the Internal Medicine Department Coordinator for the Fellowship and Residency Research Program (FRRP) and Co-Director of the Research Personnel Program at the Clinical Research Institute.
Since joining the Biomedical IRB as a board member in October 2023, Dr. Bou Fakhreddine has demonstrated strong commitment to research integrity, ethical oversight, and academic leadership.
