On the International Day for Biological Diversity, Lebanon’s biodiversity is facing severe threats due to the ongoing war, particularly in South Lebanon.
Since protecting biodiversity begins with understanding what is being lost, NCC has taken on the responsibility of documenting the environmental impacts of the war.
If you have witnessed environmental damage or have stories, photos, or narratives to share, we invite you to contribute to this collective documentation effort. Stay tuned as we shed light on the documented cases over the coming weeks.

Beyond immediate destruction, armed conflicts leave long-term ecological scars.

Nature must never be treated as collateral.

Protecting farmland, water sources, and ecosystems during conflict is not optional; it is a legal obligation and a humanitarian responsibility.

From the high peaks of the North to the hidden wetlands of the South, Lebanon is a global treasure.

But here’s the reality: We are losing it.

Urbanization, pollution, and the climate crisis aren't just "environmental issues", they are threats to our heritage, our health, and our future.

Our biodiversity is a gift we inherited. Let’s make sure we aren’t the generation that loses it. 🌍💚
