Homeschooling, also known as home education, is the education of children at home or at a variety of places other than school.

Good morning friends!
I hope you are all safe and enjoying as always our own way of lockdown and homeschooling!
We've been receiving several questions from friends and parents to share some resources, schedules, tips, and activities that they could do with their children as everyone i has somehow got to experience homeschooling now :)! So we will be sharing some of the resources we've compiled from different community members and also encourage you to share in comments what schedule/routine are you following (if any), what resources do you suggest are helpful, and any tips you can share with other parents.
***Check the Notes for these posts!
That said, please make sure to enjoy your homestay, don't stress if school work isn't done, play, play, play, and laugh some more!
Stay safe everyone!
⚠️NO SCHOOL? HOMESCHOOL! 🏠
Many of you might be worried about their children and their education during these days especially with the prolonged homestay. We want to assure you that there is nothing to worry about. In fact, this is a great time for you and your little ones to bond and get to know their skills and talents more while encouraging them to take part in building their country. Here are some tips for you to enjoy raising well educated and aware citizens during this period:
- Take note of your child's learning style and character: Do they like to experiment things? Read them? Watch documentaries about them? or listen to you explain?
- Follow their lead, stay home with them if they wish to, go to the streets if they want to, or maybe you can try some outdoor schools (Horsh Beirut or a nearby park might be an option).
- Explain that it might be a while before they go back to school and coordinate playdates for younger ones, maintain some type of preferred activity for older ones.
- Complete school work at different intervals during the day. We don't need 7 hours straight. Remember school schedules are made to satisfy your work schedule and not the children's educational needs.
- Make use of the situation and bond with your child. Get closer together and have different talks, watch something, cook a favorite meal. Just get to know them better and make sure they are able to express to you their feelings during these trembling yet hopeful times.
- Coordinate with other parents to have school work done in one of the squares or tents so children can connect together.
- Have them volunteer in clean ups, in activities, in teaching younger children. Let them learn what an active and responsible citizen means in practice.
No matter how old your little ones are, it is very important to engage them in shaping the future of their country. Talk to them about what is happening and why. They might be edgy, stressed, and might seem all over the place, remember it is not easy for them to be outside their routine, it is our role to help them adapt. ✊🏼
