The school’s curriculum is based on active construction of meaning through rigorous coursework that is intellectually challenging and culturally appropriate. Students explore topics in depth through a method of inquiry, which allows them to ask and tackle meaningful questions. There is great attention to social interactions within the curriculum, such as conversations, discussions, joint work, and debate. Such interactions provide opportunities for students to learn through observing the performance of others, receiving feedback about their own performance, hearing alternative points of view, and engaging in the exchange of ideas.There is a periodic review of the curriculum to ensure that high standards are maintained.

Our student, Jad N. travelled to Istanbul for the World Association of Mental Arithmetic Schools competition, went up against children from across the globe, and came home with third place in his level.
No calculator, no paper, no counting on fingers. Just memory, visualization, and a mind trained to see patterns in numbers the rest of us never notice.

Over the past few weeks we have introduced the people who make Eastwood what it is. The curriculum, the early years, the support, the welcome. It felt right to end with the thing that ties all of it together.

A child who feels they belong does better at everything else. That sense of belonging is not an accident. It is something a school has to care about on purpose, every single day.

When a child needs a little extra help, the timing matters as much as the help itself.

At Eastwood, psychomotor and speech support sits inside the school day. Families are not left trying to arrange it on their own, somewhere else, after hours. It is simply there, as part of how the school works, with parents kept in the loop the whole way.

Plenty of schools describe themselves as inclusive. The real question is what happens after a family enrolls.

Our Special Rights Department works with teachers, parents, and students to build support that fits the individual child, not a standard template. The aim is simple. Every child should feel understood, because that is when they do their best work.

From the classroom to the community.

Our MYP3 & MYP4 students didn't just learn about service, they did it!

From organizing a bake sale to raising funds, they purchased 16 bags of dog food and donated them to Gaia and Dogs Lives Matter Too, as part of their Language Acquisition (Arabic) class and Service as Action.

This is what learning looks like at Eastwood. Purposeful. Human. Real.
