والعربية تتطوَّر
كسائر اللغات؛ فقد أُميتَتْ مفردات منها واندثرت، وأُضيفَتْ إليها مفردات
مُولَّدة ومُعَرَّبة ودخيلة، وقامت مجامع اللغة العربية بجهد كبير في
تعريب الكثير من مصطلحات الحضارة الحديثة، ونجحت في إضافتها إلى المعجم
المستَخدَم، مثل: سيَّارة، وقطار، وطائرة، وبرقيَّة، وغير ذلك.

اللغة
العربية إحدى أكثر لغات العالم استعمالاً، وإحدى اللغات الخَمْس الرسمية
في هيئة الأمم المتحدة ومُنظَّماتها، وهي اللغة الأولى لأكثر من 290 مليون
عربي، واللغة الرسمية في 18 دولة عربية، كما يُجيدها أو يُلِمُّ بها نحو
200 مليون مُسْلم من غير العرب إلى جانب لغاتهم أو لهجاتهم الأصلية.
ويُقبِل على تعلُّمها كثيرون آخرون من أنحاء العالم لأسباب تتعلَّق بالدين
أو بالتجارة أو العمل أو الثقافة أو غير ذلك.
