Exhibition: February 28 – March 28
Hours: Monday–Friday | 12–7 PM
Join us this coming Saturday, February 28 at the Ashkal Alwan space for the opening of our exhibition by artists Ayman El Iskandarani and Lara Saab.
We look forward to welcoming you from 12-9PM!
In Beirut, more often than not, the grid trembles out of sequence: infrastructures falter and crumble, abandoned plots interrupt the urban fabric, electricity flows in unstable and deficient currents, and memory and labor slip quietly out of view. Within this fragile terrain, El Iskandarani and Saab each propose an inquiry into how extraction and depletion shape what is kept, what is abandoned, and what slowly becomes invisible over time. El Iskandarani’s installation brings together crocheted fabrics and electrical wires, weaving seemingly disparate materials to point to the domestic and urban arrangements that demand constant maintenance. Saab’s project turns to the feral maguey plants blossoming across Lebanon, tracing how a species first introduced as an ornamental object has come to flourish in spaces that have fallen into disuse. By foregrounding the hidden energies and forgotten labors that structure our homes and city, the two projects reveal how extraction operates across scales. Together, they invite us to reflect on how care persists within conditions of depletion—and to imagine our surroundings anew.

Join us for a workshop on 𝘡𝘪𝘧𝘻𝘢𝘧𝘢, Earshot’s latest research investigation advocating for sonic self-determination in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights (Al-Jawlan).
The workshop will delve into the technical and conceptual foundations of the project, and demonstrate Earshot’s use of advanced digital tools to expand the frontiers of human rights and environmental advocacy. Participants will gain insight into how technical innovation and artistic practice intersect to forge new methods of advocacy across political, legal, and cultural forums.
Held in conjunction with Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s exhibition opening at the Sfeir-Semler Gallery in Beirut on April 3, this session is intended for a diverse range of professionals, including artists, researchers, open-source investigators, human rights activists, lawyers, and journalists.
