Hi designer friends!

Organizations working in the development and humanitarian sector often have a need to rapidly identify and contract designers for short-term engagements; To meet this need, IRC is recruiting a Talent Pool of freelance designers to support projects in the Middle East region. Shortlisted applicants will become the go-to list for design talent, as project needs arise.

We're looking for designers with a range of technical skills and experience levels who are able to work with displaced communities. Is that you? Or do you know a talented designer who'd be a great fit? Please apply and/or share the job description in your networks!

Do you have exposure to or experience in design research, UX, service design, or human-centered design? Are you interested in design work in the humanitarian or development sector (e.g. iNGOs or UN agencies) but not sure how to start?

The International Rescue Committee, in collaboration with Beirut Design Week, MENA Design Research Center, MIT Enterprise Forum, Pan Arab Region, and UNDP Lebanon, will be hosting a 2.5 day workshop on the weekend of December 1-2.

The workshop will explore how to adapt design research methodologies—from planning to prototyping—when working with vulnerable communities. You'll also cover topics like research ethics, sector-specific jargon, and how to navigate being the only designer in the room.
