Nouvelle batterie de Tests d’Aptitude en Langue Française à l’Université Saint-Joseph (USJ) de Beyrouth
Le Centre des langues vivantes (CLV) de la Faculté de langues et de traduction (FdLT) de l’USJ a le plaisir d’annoncer le lancement d'une nouvelle batterie de Tests d'Aptitude en Langue Française (TALF), orchestrée par Mme Nada Kfouri Khoury responsable du projet et de la section de français au CLV et supervisée par Mmes Gina Saad et Diana Issa respectivement doyen de la Fdlt et directrice du CLV. Ce dispositif innovant vise à renforcer l’acuité de l’évaluation des compétences linguistiques des candidats tout en répondant aux exigences contemporaines du monde francophone. Grâce à une approche dynamique et interactive, ces tests permettront aux candidats de mesurer leur niveau en langue française et leur faculté à suivre des cours dans cette langue. Deux sessions d’information ont été assurées par la FdLT à l’intention des coordinateurs des campus régionaux de l’USJ et des représentants et coordinateurs des établissements scolaires du Liban. Une équipe passionnée, formée d’enseignantes à la FdLT, composée de Mmes Michèle Habbaki, Carine Moughayar et Elsa Charabati a également travaillé assidûment à la fabrication de ces tests et/ou à leur enregistrement, garantissant ainsi leur qualité et leur pertinence. À l´occasion de la journée internationale des femmes qui a lieu le 8 mars, la FdLT et le CLV vous invitent à un petit atelier afin de connaître les grandes femmes hispanoaméricaines dans le monde de la littérature, de l´art et de la peinture. A votre tour, vous nous présenterez les femmes qui ont marqué le monde artistique et littéraire libanais. Soyez nombreux le vendredi 18 mars à 12h30 à la salle 506!
On the occasion of the International Women´s Day, which takes place on March 8, the FdLT and the CLV are inviting you to a small workshop in order to get to know the great Hispano-American women in the world of literature, art and painting. In return, you will introduce us to the women who have marked the Lebanese artistic and literary world. Be there on Friday March 18 at 12:30 p.m. Room 506!

"Universal Design of Learning (UDL): Creating an inclusive environment for students with diverse needs"
As part of its "Teaching in Times of Change" training cycle for language teaching, the CLV organized on Saturday February 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. a Zoom training course entitled "Universal Design of Learning (UDL): Creating an inclusive environment for students with diverse needs", moderated by Ms Rosine Zgheib, Head of English Department at the CLV. Addressed to teachers of different languages, at school and at university, this training aimed to identify principles, guidelines, and components of a UDL curriculum, describe teaching practices used to enhance the teaching and learning process in the classroom with diverse learners, consider flexible options for planning a lesson by considering learning barriers and multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression and create a lesson plan that addresses the needs of students in the diverse classroom.

Higher Education Capacity Development Annual Summit with University Partners
The Higher Education Capacity Development (HECD) program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Education Development Center (EDC), held its annual higher education summit on 20 January 2022 bringing together ten Lebanese partner universities and one U.S. based university. The event welcomed the presence of the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Richard Michaels, USAID/Lebanon’s Mission Director Eileen Devitt, and university representatives. The summit was an opportunity to highlight the impact of the program. It featured panel discussions with local and international experts from EDC and Florida State University, university professors, students and career center experts. Dr. Rosine Zgheib Abi Rizk, Head of the English Department of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at USJ, has been actively collaborating with EDC on this project. As a panelist, her discussions focused on job readiness skills, and highlighted the importance of career center enhancements, university-employer engagement, adaptations to curricula, work-based learning, entrepreneurship, and design thinking.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the universities, honoring their active role in the project.
