How do we stay sane in all the midst of all these anxiety-provoking developments happening in Lebanon?
It takes an effort.
1- Deep-breathing.
There's no excuse not to learn deep breathing, ever. It costs nothing. It requires no special equipment. And you can do it anywhere, any time. Deep breathing has a direct calming effect on the nervous system, so much so that it relaxes the muscles of artery walls and measurably lowers blood pressure.
2- Mild exercise.
What it does for the mind is distract you from an anxiety-provoking situation, increase your energy level and give you a sense of accomplishment.
3- Stay away from negative people !!
Negative people can affect your attitude, they make you depressed and take up your valuable time.
4- READ !
A 2009 study at the University of Sussex found that reading can reduce stress by up to 68%. It works better and faster than other relaxation methods , such as listening to music or drinking a hot cup of tea.
5- Music.
Music can uplift you, sadden you, put you in the mood for romance, pump you up, or calm you down.

Bilingualism. Your brain will thank you for it.
It’s well understood that different parts of our brain perform different functions. Analytical and logical functions are concentrated in the left-side, whereas the right-side deals with emotion and social functions. Foreign languages can be complex and to master a second language requires hard work from both hemispheres resulting in some interesting advantages for the bilingual brain.
The cognitive workout required to speak two or more languages fluently seems to have a positive impact on brain development and function. Bilingual people tend to have a higher density of neurons and synapses within their brains and studies have suggested that mentally stimulating activities such as learning to read and speak in another language can have a positive influence on the overall wellbeing of our minds resulting in a lower risk of conditions such Alzheimer's.

BILINGUAL (trilingual or multilingual) CHILDREN WHO SPEAK NATIVE LANGUAGE AT HOME HAVE HIGHER INTELLIGENCE.
Children who regularly use their native language at home while growing up in a different country have higher IQ, a new study has shown. Research carried out by the British University of Reading, showed that children who spoke one language at school but practiced their native tongue at home with their families scored better in intelligence tests than those who spoke only their non-native language.
