The Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University organized a scientific conference titled “Safe Fasting for Diabetes Patients” to raise community awareness on managing diabetes safely during Ramadan. The event featured prominent speakers including Prof. Morsi Arab, Prof. Mohammad Sandid, University President Prof.Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, and Dean Prof.Wafaa El Sehly, alongside physicians, academics, and students. Discussions highlighted medical guidance for safe fasting, risk awareness, and the importance of coordinated medical, educational, and community efforts. The conference concluded with the presentation of the University’s commemorative shield to Professor Morsi Arab in recognition of his contributions.

Under the patronage of Lebanon’s Minister of Public Health, Rakan Nassereddine, represented by Dr. Samar El Hajj, the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University hosted its international conference, “Updates in Medicine: Bridging the Gap Between Knowledge and Practice.” The two-day event brought together 38 speakers and 18 moderators from Lebanon, Egypt, France, and Germany, representing leading institutions including Alexandria University, American University of Beirut, Lebanese University, Lebanese American University, University of Balamand, and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, alongside major medical centers. Six parallel workshops covered essential clinical skills such as chest tube insertion, neonatal resuscitation, trauma life support, cast application, and basic laparoscopic surgery. Conference sessions highlighted advances across surgical and medical specialties, dermatology, reproductive medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and internal medicine, with emphasis on artificial intelligence, digital health, and innovative therapies. The opening ceremony was attended by university leadership, including President Wael Nabil Abdel Salam and Dean Wafaa El Sehly, and concluded with the presentation of the University’s Honorary Shield to Dr. El Hajj.

Organized by the Local Director and Assistant Local Director, the “Meet Your LeMSIC Standing Committees” booth campaign introduced medical students to the six LeMSIC standing committees through the efforts of our Local Officers and Assistant Local Officers, highlighting the diverse opportunities available and encouraging active involvement. In celebration of World Cancer Day, students also shared heartfelt notes of support for cancer patients; a powerful expression of solidarity and compassion. Through this initiative, students gained clearer insight into the opportunities available within LeMSIC and the meaningful impact they can have by getting involved.

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University hosted a Basics of Laparoscopic Surgery Workshop for residents, interns, and medical students.

The session included a theoretical part covering stapling techniques and an introduction to laparoscopic suturing, followed by a hands-on dry lab training at the Simulation and Training Center.

Lectures and practical supervision were conducted by Dr. Mahmoud Basho, Consultant in Bariatric and Laparoscopic Surgery, alongside Dr. Tarek Hadara general and Laparoscopic Surgeon.

The Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University successfully conducted a practical workshop entitled “Cast Application and Evolution,” coordinated by Dr. Yousef Abu Chahine. The workshop aim to equip residents, rotating interns and senior medical students with up-to-date knowledge on the principles, indications, and advancements in cast application, while enhancing their practical skills through live demonstration and supervised hands-on training. The workshop contributed to improving technical competence, increasing clinical confidence, and strengthening the overall orthopedic training within the surgical curriculum, ultimately promoting better patient care.

The Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University hosted Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) two workshops on 2nd and 3rd February as part of its 'Advances in Medicine: Bridging Knowledge and Practice' conference. Held at BAULS, the workshop focused on enhancing healthcare professionals' skills in neonatal resuscitation, promoting teamwork, and applying best updated 2025 practices to improve neonatal outcomes. Experts and participants shared expertise and hands-on training, aiming to close the gap between theory and practice in neonatal resuscitation. At the end of the workshop, the participants received American Academy of Pediatrics Certification as providers in NRP 2025 guidelines

We’re proud to announce that we recently conducted an Emergency Trauma Life Support (ETLS) course as part of the upcoming medical conference hosted by the Faculty of Medicine at Beirut Arab University, taking place next Wednesday and Thursday. This course was led by Dr. Bahaa Bou Dargham, from the Faculty of Medicine, along with the BAULS team. We’re excited to keep building trauma care skills through these collaborative efforts!

The “Find Your Learning DNA” booth, delivered under LeMSIC through the Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME), was a student-led educational initiative that encouraged medical students to reflect on their learning strategies and optimize them for medical school. Inspired by the VARK model, the activity challenged the idea of a single “right” way to learn and empowered students to identify approaches that work best for them.
