UA’s Faculty of Sport Sciences (FSS) took part in the 2026 Beirut Sports Festival, highlighting the importance of education in sport sciences and its role in advancing the sports sector.

Instructors, students, alumni, athletes, and stakeholders shared their experiences while presenting the Faculty’s diverse academic programs and diplomas.

Through education and community engagement, the FSS continues to shape the next generation of sport professionals.

As part of the University Diploma in Mountain Guide and Outdoor Activities, we explored some of Lebanon’s most iconic landscapes and heritage sites.

The day began with a visit to the village of Deir El Qamar, where we immersed ourselves in its rich history, architecture, and cultural identity. We then headed to Barouk Cedar Forest and completed a 10 km hike to uncover the many dimensions of Lebanon’s cedar heritage, including their botanical, historical, archaeological, religious, economic, touristic, and symbolic significance.

As part of the University Diploma in Mountain Guide and Outdoor Activities, a weekend-field experience bridged culture, ecology, and high-mountain practice.

Students explored the cultural history of Qannoubine Valley with Mr. Johny Bou Ghosn, gained insight into the fauna and flora of Ehden Nature Reserve under the guidance of Dr. Jean Estephan, and engaged in mountain practice and summiting from to the Black Peak, led by Mr. Avedis Kalpaklian.

As part of the University Diploma in Mountain Guiding and Outdoor Activities at the UA Faculty of Sport Sciences, students participated in a valuable field training experience that highlighted the importance of safety, security, and responsibility in mountain guiding.

Covering the route from the foothills of Mount Hafroun to the summit of Mount Hafroun in Ehmej, students identified potential risks and challenges that may arise during mountain excursions and learned how to manage them effectively to ensure the safety of their groups.

The training included practical techniques for securing sensitive sections of trails using ropes and specialized equipment, as well as other essential safety procedures and risk mitigation strategies in the field.
