Self realization as looking deeper into the autostereogram
When trying to see the image in a autostereogram - one person is saying you have to look at it like this. And then someone else is like, no, you have to look at it like this. It's like you're trying to adjust your vision so that you can see what's there that you haven't been able to see before.
And that's kind of what happens with this kind of spiritual knowledge transformation.
Prahlad (from the text Srimad Bhagavatam), in a sense, he's saying:
"Keep looking at reality. You're looking at your body, you're looking at everything around you and you're thinking, you are that body and you're going to be happy by connecting your body with the things that are around it. Keep looking. Look, hear this, and try to see it. Try to see these six transformations of the body (birth, existence, growth, transformation, dwindling, death), try to see how that comes and goes and we remain the same. Try to see it. Ultimately, you have to try to feel it and you keep staring until it comes out. And that's called self-realization.
From the podcast "Wisdom of the Sages", episodes 1283: Figuring out life begins with "I'm not my body"
(Discussion of verse 7.7.18 from Srimad Bhagavatam)
