thThis weekMattel released the first Barbie doll with Down syndrome.

The company worked with advocacy organizations, including the National Down Syndrome Society, to accurately represent an adult with the genetic condition.

“Our goal is to enable all children to see themselves in Barbie, while also encouraging children to play with dolls who do not look like themselves," said Mattel executive Lisa McKnight.
