AUST STUDENTS ACHIEVE 2nd PLACE WORLDWIDE AT HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION GLOBAL FINALS IN CHINA!
Proud to announce another outstanding international achievement by students from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at AUST on the global stage.
At the 10th Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals held in Shenzhen, China, the Lebanese national team competing in the Cloud & AI track secured the Grand Prize in the Middle East and achieved 2nd Place Worldwide among 131 elite teams selected from more than 210,000 participants from across the globe.
AUST was proudly represented by two exceptional students, Mariam Zaiter and Mounir Rizkallah, whose dedication, technical excellence, and strong performance contributed significantly to this remarkable global success. The team was led by Yuri Yaacoub and mentored by Dr. Marie-Rita Hojeij from USEK.
This achievement reflects the strength of AUST’s Huawei ICT Academy and the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science in delivering high-quality, industry-aligned education that equips students with the skills needed to compete at the highest international levels in Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence.
It also highlights the continuous efforts of AUST’s Huawei ICT Academy leadership, under the coordination of Mr. Michel Owayjan, in strengthening the bridge between academia and industry and empowering students through advanced training, certification pathways, and hands-on learning experiences.
This success stands as a testament to the talent, resilience, and determination of our students, who continue to bring pride to AUST and to Lebanon through their excellence in highly competitive international arenas.

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Championship – National Competition, took place on May 22, 2026, at La Sagesse University. One AUST student, Nour Ftouni, participated and she won the third prize for the MS Word track.

On June 2, 2026, we had the pleasure of witnessing the outstanding work, creativity, and technical expertise of students from the ICT Major at AUST during the ICT Cyber Defense Project Day.
Students showcased innovative projects addressing real-world cybersecurity challenges, demonstrating not only their technical skills but also their commitment to building a safer and more secure digital future. It was inspiring to witness their dedication, teamwork, and passion for cybersecurity on full display.
A special acknowledgment goes to Dr. Elie Nasr, Chairperson of the ICT Major, for his leadership, vision, and continuous efforts in fostering a strong academic and practical cybersecurity learning environment that empowers students to excel.
