The Lebanese Canadian University - LCU is a Lebanese institution of higher education recognized by the presidential decrees # 3585/2000 and # 778/2007. Its main mission is to grant university degrees that meet the socioeconomic needs of the community and that are closely associated with scientific research. Thus, LCU provides top quality programs that lead to degrees of international standard and which are accredited by the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education.

شارك رئيس الجامعة اللبنانية الكندية - LCU، البروفسور دكتور جلال حلواني، في الطاولة المستديرة التي نظّمتها المفكرة القانونية بالتعاون مع المجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية لمناقشة واقع أنهار عكار والتحديات البيئية التي تواجهها، بحضور نواب، ممثلين عن الوزارات، أكاديميين، وخبراء في المياه والبيئة.

خلال مداخلته، عرض البروفسور دكتور حلواني نتائج أبحاثه حول تلوّث المياه السطحية والجوفية في عكار وانعكاساته على الصحة والزراعة، مقدّمًا خارطة طريق استراتيجية لمعالجة الأزمة، شملت تطوير شبكات المياه والصرف الصحي، الاستفادة من المياه الكبريتية، إنشاء سد نورة، وتعزيز الوعي الزراعي بالاستخدام الآمن للمبيدات وتقنيات الري الحديثة.

واختُتمت الندوة بحوار دعا إلى تسريع الخطوات لحماية الموارد المائية والحدّ من التلوث في عكار
