Good Falang We're building a school in lovely Laos so local village kids have access to education and a pathway out of poverty. Everybody loves their mates. So we did.

Keep updated with our crowdfunding progress, and once we're built, you can find out about volunteering at My English House in Xieng Ngern. Parties, games, good times. A lot of people love to travel. New food, the sights, the memories. So we thought, why not combine these loves and make an awesome travel-themed game night to scratch that itch in between adventures? Around the same time my good friend Peng told me he was ready to start construction on a dream project we'd talked about for the last few years. He'd worked very hard and saved some money to build My English House in his village in Laos....but it wasn't enough. If only I could help him fundraise. And so Good Falang was born! Falang means 'foreigner' in Laos. And most people I know want to do good. There is a genuine desire to help others make a better life. So this is where our story begins. The idea is simple. You volunteer to host a party at your place with a group of your friends. Choose the type of event that suits your style and your budget. We'll take care of everything! Your friends pay to come along, and they get to choose which parts of My English House they want to fund with the profits. Keep track of where your money goes, watch the school get built, and have FUN talking trash....ahhhh...I mean travel. See you at your place!

Finding ways to travel cheaper is my favourite pastime!

As both a very experienced traveller (50+ countries to date), and a former travel agent I can promise you that travel does not have to be super expensive. Granted, it depends a lot

Our latest newsletter! It's been a busy time, fighting the heavy rains and a national tragedy following the torrential rains and a national tragedy following the collapse of the dam in Laos. BUT...the future is bright.

"Not everybody wants a goat". Best name ever to convey that the good intentions outsiders have is not always what is needed by local communities. Yes, they have needs, but it's essential to ASK them what will best support them. And yes, the answers may surprise you. Yes, it may be against conventional wisdom. But yes, it also may just work!

Matt Brown reports from Kenya on a radical cash experiment that challenges our deep-rooted notions of charity and may hold the seeds of a revolution in social welfare.
