a man who has always been passionate about learning and teaching English". Graduated at Lao-English School and began to teach English there in 1973, Boonwai's dream was to run a school of his own. During that era where Francophone was common among the majorities, English is that of the minorities. Boonwai himself was one of the very few English teachers during that time, yet best known for his enthusiastic and friendly style of teaching. He is well-loved and respected by his students, ranging from teenagers to young adults and adults older than his age. Difficulties emerged when the owner of Lao English School passed away, but that didn't affect his passion in teaching. Boonwai then relocated the classroom to his own house, and students started bringing their children to join them in their English class. Not wanting their children to study with anyone else but Boonwai, the supporting students encouraged him to start up a school in his own home - a school where they could leave their children in a trusting hand. That was when Progress School was established in 1991.
.. and the rest is history.
