Nazarbayev Intellectual school of Physics and Mathematics in Semey was opened in September 13, 2009. Total building area – 8, 820 sq. Total area of the school territory – 36, 247 sq.m. On March, 2013 the school enrolled 764 students, 109 teachers who passed a competitive selection. According to attestation results the qualitative teaching staff included: teacher - expert – 11.99% of the total amou
nt, teacher - moderator 34.88%, teacher - 47.96%, a trainee teacher - 23.98%. The activity of Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Semey is mainly focused on enhanced studies of Physics and Math subjects as well as students’ patriotic education. Our school is equipped with Physics, Biology and Chemistry classes according to modern international requirements. In the 2011/2012 school year the Intellectual school introduced the team teaching method where teaching is conducted simultaneously by two teachers: a subject teacher and an international teacher. The goal of team teaching is to create a language environment for improving English. During the 2011/2012 academic year the school started staged implementation of criteria-based assessment in accordance with Concept for introduction of criteria-based assessment of achievements for AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual schools” students. In the 2012/2013 academic year the assessment system was based on the developments and experiences of Cambridge International Examinations Council. In 2012/2013 school year AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” developed and implemented the integrated education programs in association with Cambridge International Examinations Council. The students pass training and elective courses in the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy and Singapore. Teachers have the opportunity to improve their qualifications at international courses in the United States, Sweden, Germany, Great Britain, Singapore and other countries. The school has organized clubs which students attend after regular classes taking into account children’s age and interests. These practical clubs include: music and sport, fine arts, history, technology, poetry and others. The school graduates continue their education in Nazarbayev University and other state and world leading universities.
