Ozge Social Project

This is exactly what we were established for—to help students from under-resourced and rural areas, as well as those from disadvantaged families, access high-quality education by giving them the opportunity to explore and unlock their hidden potential, and achieve results they truly deserve—results they may not have been able to achieve otherwise.

We have been doing this by providing free English language classes, including IELTS preparation, SAT preparation, and university admission guidance, through skilled and experienced instructors, with the generous financial support of the Nazarbayev University Social Development Fund.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that one of our other students, Tolganay Kenzhebolatova, from School No. 69 in Karaotkel village, Astana City, Kazakhstan, has been admitted to her dream university—Nazarbayev University—to pursue an undergraduate degree in Physics with a fully funded scholarship.

Applications Now Open for the Third Cohort of the Ozge Social Project!

We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the third cohort of the Ozge Social Project, a transformative educational initiative in Kazakhstan that aims to make education inclusive and accessible, allowing underserved communities to thrive.

Supported by the Nazarbayev University Social Development Fund (NU SDF), Ozge is bridging the educational gap by offering students from rural areas and underprivileged families the opportunity to access high-quality education they would not otherwise be able to afford.

What We Offer:
- Free English language classes to help improve your skills and prepare for the IELTS exam.
- ⁠Free SAT preparation classes to help you succeed and increase your chances of gaining admission to top universities.
- ⁠University application guidance (free) to support you in selecting schools, writing applications, and preparing for interviews.

Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking 11th grade students from rural areas or underprivileged families who have an intermediate level of English. Our classes are conducted entirely in English, and we’re here to help you improve your English proficiency, boost your SAT scores, and guide you through the university application process.

Second Cohort of the Ozge Social Project

We are excited to announce the successful selection of our second cohort: 40 outstanding students from over 30 schools across 23 rural regions throughout Kazakhstan!

These students, representing diverse rural areas across the country, were selected for their commitment, potential, and drive to pursue higher education. Their inclusion in the Ozge Project reflects our continued mission to reach underprivileged communities and create opportunities for talented youth in remote and under resourced regions.

Through the Ozge Social Project, these students will receive comprehensive support, including essential English language and IELTS training, SAT preparation, and university application guidance. Our goal is to empower them with the skills and confidence they need to gain admission to top universities in Kazakhstan and abroad.

This second cohort represents another milestone in our effort to provide equal access to quality education, especially for students from underserved communities.

About Us - The Ozge Social Project

The Ozge Social Project is a pioneering initiative aimed at bridging the educational divide in Kazakhstan by offering free, high-quality training to underprivileged students from rural areas.

Founded by Nazarbayev University alumnus Mohammad Habib Abdullah and student Sandugash Orynbay, and supported by the Nazarbayev University Social Development Fund, Ozge is committed to empowering the next generation through language courses, capacity-building programs, and university preparation.

The classes are conducted by carefully selected, highly talented instructors and dedicated project mentors. Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background or location, has access to life-changing educational opportunities. We believe in fostering educational equity and equipping young Kazakhstani students with the tools they need to succeed on a global scale.

Meet Our INSTRUCTORS!

Meet the dedicated instructors behind the Ozge Social Project, a team committed to empowering students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds in Kazakhstan.

- SAT-Verbal Instructor: Elina Kim is a dedicated SAT Verbal teacher. Passionate about innovative solutions, she is eager to contribute her knowledge to the community’s development. In her free time, Elina enjoys reading and watching Netflix.

- IELTS Instructor: Aliya Yelshibay is an experienced IELTS tutor with a focused approach to helping students excel in their language skills. Specializing in three essential IELTS components—Reading, Writing, and Listening—Aliya brings clarity and structure to each lesson, tailored to meet the needs of every student. With a strong teaching background and a commitment to fostering student success, she guides learners to achieve their best scores.

- SAT-Math Instructor: Madi Shotykbaev was born in the Atyrau region. He graduated from NIS in Atyrau and initially enrolled at AITU. However, after finding it wasn’t the right fit, he transferred to Nazarbayev University, where he is now studying mathematics. Having entered with the SAT, Madi is eager to share his experiences and help others achieve their academic goals.

- IELTS Instructor: Emmanuel Zakka is a dedicated pharmacist with a strong commitment to volunteering and mentoring. He is a passionate advocate for quality education and improved healthcare access for underprivileged communities, particularly in Africa. Emmanuel aims to bridge gaps in healthcare and education by empowering communities and promoting sustainable development.

- SAT-Math Instructor: Kuanysh Yessenxhanov is a Senior Lecturer in the School of IT and Engineering at Kazakh-British Technical University in Almaty. Alongside his academic career, Kuanysh leads UZDIKLAND, an ed-tech company dedicated to empowering high school students on their path to university acceptance. With 8.5 years of impactful teaching experience, he is committed to fostering student success and academic excellence.

Meet the Team Behind the Ozge Social Project!

We are excited to introduce our passionate and diverse executive team, each member bringing unique expertise and a strong commitment to empowering students from rural and underserved communities.

- Founder and Project Lead: Mohammad Habib Abdullah is a serial social entrepreneur, recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list and as a recipient of The Diana Award for his social entrepreneurship leadership in his home country and beyond.

- Co-Founder and Director: Sandugash Orynbay is a fourth-year Political Science and International Relations student with a strong interest in educational research. She serves as the Deputy Coordinator for SDSN Youth Kazakhstan, focusing on Sustainable Development Goals related to educational equality. Sandugash also works as a Research Assistant at NU.

- Project Director: Akzhan Yestoreyeva, an NIS alumnus and senior Chemistry student at NU, is actively involved in the American Chemical Society club and the university’s volleyball team. She also works as a Research Assistant at the Advanced Nanochemistry Laboratory.

- Mentorship Coordinator: Temirlan Shilikbay, an NU ‘19 alumnus and current graduate student in neuroscience at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, enjoys rock climbing, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.

- Classroom Coordinator: Aruzhan Bazarova, first-year student at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of NU, is an active volunteer since 2019. She has coordinated major events like the 2022 River Shore Cleaning Game Quest and Victory Day Parade. Aruzhan completed a Volunteer School program in 2022 and participated in various events, including NUET, Nexus, IBO, and more.

- Communications Coordinator: Xeniya Terzapulo is a senior Chemistry student with a passion for analytical chemistry, problem-solving, and precision. As the President of NU ACS ISC, she organizes events and fosters a strong scientific community. She also works as a Research Assistant, where she contributes to ongoing research with a focus on chemistry.
