On November 18-19, 2021 the National Erasmus + Office in Kazakhstan took part in Virtual HERE Annual conference «Looking Back, Looking Forward: Perspectives on Higher Education Reforms» 2021, orginised by Support and Promotion for Higher Education Reform Experts (SPHERE).

Национальный офис программы Эразмус+ в Казахстане и Национальная команда экспертов по реформированию высшего образования (НК ЭРВО) совместно с Департаментом высшего и послевузовского образования Министерства образования и науки Республики Казахстан при поддержке Европейского Исполнительного агентства по образованию и культуре (EACEA) проводит 4-5 ноября 2021 года региональный семинар «Создание системы внутреннего обеспечения качества высшего образования на основе политики и стандартов» (Модуль 3).

Просим иметь в виду, что данный семинар является частью постоянно действующего семинара «Создание системы обеспечения качества высшего образования».

Место проведения: Университет Шакарима, г. Семей, ул. Танирбергенова, 1, актовый зал.

Цель - содействие в создании системы внутреннего обеспечения качества высшего образования на уровне вуза.

Целевая группа: проректоры по академическим вопросам и руководители структурных подразделений по академическим вопросам и вопросам обеспечения качества.

Формат: оффлайн (25 участников).

МОНИТОРИНГ ПРОЕКТА TRIGGER 29 октября 2021 г. Национальный Офис Эразмус+ в Казахстане на базе Евразийского национального университета имени Л.Н.Гумилева провел мониторинг проекта «617309-EPP-1-2020-1-SK-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP «Инициирование и внедрение инновационных подходов, предпринимательских навыков и установок на основе создания благоприятных условий для улучшения возможностей трудоустройства выпускников Центральной Азии - TRIGGER»

16-18 сентября 2021 года Национальный офис программы Эразмус+ в Казахстане и Национальная команда экспертов по реформированию высшего образования (НК ЭРВО) совместно с Министерством образования и науки Республики Казахстан при поддержке Европейского Исполнительного агентства по образованию и культуре (EACEA) провел международный региональный семинар на тему «Обеспечение качества высшего образования: механизмы национального уровня и институциональная имплементация».

Цель семинара - содействие формированию культуры качества среди профессорско-преподавательского состава и обучающихся высших учебных заведений путем обсуждения и разработки эффективной национальной модели обеспечения качества высшего образования.

Call for Application for International Excellence Scholarship Programme (IES)

We are pleased to announce that COPERNICUS BERLIN has opened the application phase for the International Excellence Scholarship (IES) programme. The application deadline is 15 June 2021.

International Excellence Scholarship Programme (IES) is a scholarship programme that enables motivated students of all fields of study from Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia with above-average grades to spend a semester abroad in Berlin. This programme gives students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge at the best German universities (HU Berlin, FU Berlin, HWR Berlin, University of Potsdam). During the 6-month stay, the scholarship holders will actively participate in the life of the association. They will also experience German culture first-hand through living with a German-speaking host family as well as through the cultural events and social meetings. In addition, the scholarship holders take part in the programme's accompanying and developing activities, which they help to shape intensively.

Putting Philosophy into Practice: Focus on the Student Experience in the Writing Process

This panel will introduce the principles and practices of the core writing course for first-year students at NU. The course is designed to develop genre awareness, metacognitive reflections and student agency at all stages of the writing process, supported by student-student and student-instructor collaboration within a discourse community.

Marilyn Plumlee earned a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Hawai`i. She has taught language and linguistics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at universities in the U.S., South Korea and Egypt. She is currently an Instructor in the Writing Center at Nazarbayev University in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan and teaches the first year Rhetoric & Composition course in addition to other core and elective courses in the program. Dr. Plumlee served terms as the national president of the professional associations of English language teachers in both Korea (KOTESOL) and Egypt (NILE TESOL). She has had leadership roles in internationalization projects in both academic institutions and private sector international educational exchange organizations. Her current research interests are in multilingualism, sociolinguistics of deaf communities, writing pedagogy, and intercultural communication.

Shane Ellis Coates has taught internationally since 1996. He spent a year teaching in South Korea before moving to Istanbul in 1998. He was the coordinator for the Academic Support Center at Istanbul Bilgi University, and spent a year working as a copy editor for The Report, an international business magazine published by Oxford Business Group, before returning to Korea in 2008. In 2009 he became the program coordinator for the newly established International Writing Center at Kyungpook National University. Since 2003 his teaching has focused primarily on academic and professional writing. He holds undergraduate degrees in Literature & History, as well as a Master’s Degree in Higher Education.


Kirk Peterson is a Writing and Communications Instructor at Nazarbayev University in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. He currently teaches first-year Rhetoric and Composition. Kirk earned his M.A. in Folklore and Public Culture from the University of Oregon in the Northwestern US where he also taught first-year college composition courses and Introduction to Folklore Studies. Kirk’s research interests include media studies, expressive culture, vernacular communication, and the ways in which the intersections of these topics can encourage critical engagement in the postsecondary writing classroom. He is also the Managing Editor of Dialogue: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy.


Diana Karabekova is a first-year student at Nazarbayev University. She is from Shymkent, Kazakhstan and attended Nazarbayev Intellectual School before enrolling at NU. Diana is currently an undeclared student in the School of Sciences and Humanities and intends to major in Languages, Linguistics and Literatures. She also manages public relations and social media accounts for NU’s student-produced live talk show, The Tuesday Show.

NU Writing Talks is an annual symposium organized by the SSH Writing Center Program at Nazarbayev University. It is dedicated to the exploration of the teaching and learning of writing in English for academic and research purposes in an international context. The theme of the inaugural event is Writing to Learn, Engage, and Create. This event will consist of four 90-minute webinars, each held on a Saturday in April. Writing Center instructors, professors from a variety of disciplines, and students will be there to share their experience and resources.
