Timothy L. Barnett, Ph.D.

About Education

Mr. Barnett attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln as an undergraduate student and majored in Psychology and minored in English and History. He enjoyed his university experience, because he got involved in several groups on campus. He participated in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the rowing team and of course was able to watch the famous Nebraska Cornhuskers Football team.

After, he completed his first master's degree in education in Texas and second master's degree in student development theory in the Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles because he wanted a career in student affairs. He completed his education with a Ph.D. in strategic planning in business and education in Claremont Graduate University, also in Los Angeles.

About Academic Career

A brief summary:
• worked as a Director of Student Activities at Wheaton College in Chicago.
• As Associate Dean of Students, at Biola University
• Loyola University New Orleans, as a Director of their Student Center, which is a place that houses offices, food services, different small business and student government
• Dr. Barnett’s first job as a Vice President for Student Affairs was at Northern State University in Aberdeen South Dakota. I was there for 4 years.
• From there he moved to Alaska to work at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, as a Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and he was there for a 6 years
• From there he went to the University of Illinois Springfield, same position of Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. He left University of Illinois Springfield because he wanted to work overseas and he had an opportunity to work in Singapore
• From Singapore Dr. Barnett went to Dalian University of Foreign Languages. He taught courses in marketing, strategic planning and leadership. There he hears about the opportunity to get back into administrative work at KIMEP University where he works nowadays.

About KIMEP University
Dr. Barnett was looking through Higher Ed Jobs, an online job forum for people looking for teaching and administrative positions all over the world in higher education. He taught in Saint-Petersburg, Russia for five summers and wondered what it would be like returning to work in a Russian-speaking country.

Those departments report to Dr. Barnett: Quality Assurance, Admissions and Enrollment, International Academic Mobility and Support Services, Corporate Development and Marketing.

28 мая 2016 года в Университете КИМЭП прошла церемония выпуска по Программе Мини МВА. 15 выпускников данной Программы получили дипломы.

С 2013 года Программа Мини МВА сертифицирована FIBAA, Германия, Бонн, и разработана для менеджеров всех уровней и ведущих специалистов с целью предоставить доступ к современным направлениям эффективного ведения бизнеса, чтобы обеспечить профессиональный рост управленца, а также его команды.

Graduation Ceremony for the Mini MBA Program was held in May 28, 2016 at KIMEP University. 15 graduates of this program received their diplomas.

Since 2013 Mini MBA Program is certified by FIBAA, Germany, Bonn, and is designed for managers of all levels and leading experts in order to provide access to the latest modern trends of efficient business to provide professional development for managers and their teams.

KIMEP University hosts a workshop, organized by U.S. Consulate General. Representatives from Kazakhstani University participate in the event in order to find out how to cooperatewith US Universities.

KIMEP University hosts VI Republican Online Conference iMIX 2016 in May 19-20, 2016.

The Conference is held under the auspices of the Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan Internet Business and Mobile Commerce (AKIB).

The event is designed for executives and business owners, marketers and advertising market experts, representatives of online shops and services, the SMM-professionals and bloggers, and online marketing agencies.

KIMEP Leadership Development Program (LDP) was initiated by the President of KIMEP University in 2010, as part of an innovative curriculum redesign, putting a greater emphasis on personal leadership awareness and skills development.

The LDP concept and content have been developed by KIMEP Executive Education Center (EEC) and this project has been lead and administrated since 2010 by one of EEC staff member.

The purpose of the Leadership Development Program is to help KIMEP students develop the necessary skills to assume key positions in Kazakhstani business and government. It focuses on the practical application of leadership skills, ending in a supervised internship. Those students that fulfill all requirements of the Program receive a Special Certificate in Leadership.

You are cordially invited to the lecture on leadership from the President of KIMEP University - Dr. Chan Young Bang.
