🏆 ICCI Graduation Awards Former Dean

The recent graduation saw the presentation of several awards. The Dr. Elsa Cummings Award for Institutional Service recognizes an individual who exemplifies the commitment, hard work, inspiration, and leadership that have long characterized the service of Dr. Elsa Cummings (shown left).

This year's award was presented to former Dean and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Aleza Beverly in recognition of her nine years of dedicated service to the International College of the Cayman Islands.

Throughout her tenure, Dr. Beverly inspired faculty, staff, and students to strive for excellence and consistently encouraged students to "Finish Strong"—a message that became a hallmark of her leadership and commitment to student success.

Her unwavering dedication, encouragement, and passion for education have left a lasting impact on the ICCI community and helped shape the lives of countless students.

🏆 ICCI Awards Student Government President

The International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI) congratulates its former student Ms. Janet James on her success of more than 20 years in financial services. Janet brings deep, hands-on experience across Class A & Class B banking, mutual funds, hedge funds, trusts, investments, and SPVs administration.

She credits her current success to the foundation she received at ICCI where she earned her Bachelor of Science in International Finance (Honours), with a minor in Business Administration.

Janet was recognised on the Dean’s List during her studies and completed the programme in 2005, reflecting a long-standing commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning.

Janet later earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours from the University of Liverpool and achieved a first-class distinction in the Professional Practice Certificate (PPC) at Oxford Brookes University.

In 2024, she founded Richards & Richards Attorneys-at-Law Ltd., a boutique law firm providing comprehensive legal solutions across a variety of practice areas, including family, immigration, labour law, civil and criminal litigation. With a commitment to providing individualized attention to each client and ensuring that their legal needs are met.

While studying at the Truman Bodden Law School, Janet was among the first students to participate in the Cayman Islands Legal Assistance Clinic, a legal-advice-only clinic that provides free, hands-on legal support for the benefit of the wider community.

She serves on the Labour Appeals Tribunal Board and volunteers with the Cayman Islands Beautification Task Force.

She is also an active member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners’ Association and Business and Professional Women (Cayman Islands). Beyond her professional pursuits, Janet enjoys travel and cooking and remains passionate about community outreach.

Valedictorian Nadine Edano was honoured with the James Manoah Bodden Memorial Award, presented by ICCI Board Member Lucille Seymour, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to serving the Cayman Islands community.

Named in honour of Cayman's first National Hero, James Manoah Bodden, who generously donated the land on which the ICCI campus now stands, this prestigious award acknowledges an ICCI student who has made significant contributions to the Cayman community through leadership, service, and civic engagement.

Nadine has exemplified these values throughout her time at ICCI. She has been actively involved in organisations that support and empower young professionals, including Connect by Nova, where she developed a strong appreciation for initiatives that guide early-career growth.

She has also contributed to community-focused organisations such as HOKC and the YMCA, supporting fundraising efforts and broader initiatives that strengthen the community.

In addition, Nadine has demonstrated exceptional leadership through her service with CIIPA and 100 Women in Finance as a committee member, and with the TCCP Youth Council, where she serves as Treasurer.

Through these roles, she has remained committed to advancing opportunities for young Caymanians and creating meaningful, lasting impact. She also served as Vice President of the ICCI Student Council, advocating for and supporting her fellow students.

This award was one of four honours Nadine received at the ICCI Graduation Ceremony, alongside the Award for Overall Academic Excellence in the Bachelor's Program, the Outstanding Academic Achievement in Accounting at the Bachelor's Level Award, and the Most Outstanding Capstone Project at the Undergraduate Level.

Congratulations to Valedictorian Nadine Edano on receiving the award for Most Outstanding Capstone Project at the Undergraduate Level, presented by ICCI Board Member Matthew Adam at the ICCI Graduation Ceremony.

Nadine's award-winning capstone project, titled "The Intersection of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Technology: Evaluating How Data Analytics and AI Tools Strengthen or Weaken Anti-Money Laundering Frameworks," explored one of the most pressing issues facing the global financial services industry today.

Her research demonstrated critical thinking, academic rigour, and an ability to address complex real-world challenges through innovative analysis.
