2016年の熊本地震の経験と教訓をもとに、避難所・車中泊・在宅避難など、多様な避難形態に対応した避難者支援ポータル「防くま」を開発しました。
本日、熊本県内で地震が発生しました。

Our gPBL program in University of Ulsan 🇰🇷 has successfully concluded!

It was a short but unforgettable experience. The students worked hard, collaborated across cultures, and delivered outstanding presentations at the end of the program.

We hope this international experience will inspire them to broaden their perspectives, embrace diversity, and continue challenging themselves in the future.

5月23日（土）、平成28年熊本地震から10年の節目に開催された「熊本競輪場 防災体験イベント」を視察してきました。

本イベントは、「楽しく学ぶ防災」をコンセプトに、復旧・復興パネル展、防災車両展示、車中泊避難体験、非常食試食コーナーなど、多彩なプログラムが実施されました。

熊本市が4月2日に発表した車中泊避難場所のうち、熊本競輪場とアクアドームくまもとが指定後初めての関連イベントとなり、当日は多くのお子様連れのご家族が参加されていました。

また、大西市長、荒川熊本市議会議員、福岡市関係者をはじめ、多くの報道関係者も参加され、防災への関心の高さを感じる大変有意義な機会となりました。

本研究室では、今後も車中泊避難支援や防災DXに関する研究活動を通じて、市民の防災意識向上と、実効性のある防災訓練・避難支援の仕組みづくりに貢献してまいります。

本日5月13日、ゼミ生7名を対象に、「コミュニケーション能力の向上」を目的としたセミナーを開催しました。
今回は外部講師として、キャリアコンサルタントの藤井初美様、産業カウンセラーの猿渡勝様にお越しいただきました。

前半では、参加者それぞれのタイプ分けを通して、自己理解や他者理解の大切さを学びました。自分自身の考え方やコミュニケーションの特徴を知ることで、相手との関わり方について理解を深める良い機会となりました。

後半では、チャップリン・スピーチのワークショップを実施しました。参加した学生たちは即興スピーチに挑戦し、最初は少し緊張した様子も見られましたが、回を重ねるごとに落ち着いて、堂々と自分の考えを伝える姿が印象的でした。

「自分の意見をわかりやすく伝える力」は、研究活動だけでなく、今後の学生生活や社会での活躍にもつながる大切な能力です。

最後のアンケートでも、参加者からは「楽しかった」「勉強になった」といった前向きな感想が多く寄せられ、大変有意義なセミナーとなりました。
今回の学びが、ゼミ生の皆さんの今後の成長に少しでも役立つことを願っています。
藤井様、猿渡様、本日は貴重なご講演とワークショップをありがとうございました。
次回のセミナーも楽しみにしています。

Great to attend IEEE-ICEIB 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan this weekend🇹🇼✨

I was honored to serve as a Session Chair and also present two papers from our research group.

One of the presentations introduced our latest collaborative work with the City of Kumamoto:

“A Hybrid Self-Managed and Digitally Assisted Framework for Vehicle-Based Disaster Evacuation Based on the Kumamoto Model”

Through this work, we proposed the Kumamoto Model as Japan’s first detailed framework for supporting vehicle-based evacuees during disasters.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share our research internationally, exchange ideas with researchers from different countries, and discuss how digital technology can contribute to safer and more resilient communities.

We are pleased to share that, as a result of the collaborative initiative among Kumamoto City, Sojo University, and Bosai Tech Inc., Japan’s first two official vehicle-based evacuation reception sites have been designated, and the Kumamoto City Guidelines for Supporting Vehicle-Based Evacuees have been released.

We sincerely appreciate the warm support and encouragement we have received throughout this effort.

Moving forward, we will continue advancing research on disaster support systems in collaboration with international partners in New Zealand.

It was a pleasure to take part in the Staff–Student International Panel Discussion alongside leading academics and industry professionals from Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

The discussion offered an excellent opportunity to reflect on global technology trends, evolving professional roles, industry–academia collaboration, and the skills needed for future employability. I was glad to contribute perspectives from Japan, particularly in the areas of AI, IoT, robotics, and practical innovation through university–industry collaboration.

My sincere thanks to Prof. Farhad Mehdipour, the organisers, panelists, and participants for such a meaningful exchange. I hope the discussion encouraged students and staff to think more broadly about technology, professional growth, and international collaboration.
