오랫만에 순수하고 깨끗한 알자스 와인을 만났다. '현인(Le sage)' 이라는 애칭으로 잘 알려진 알베르 모레 Albert Maurer 는 1965년에 아이흐호펜 마을에 양조장을 설립했고, 묑쉬베르그(Moenchberg) 그랑크뤼를 비롯한 여러 품종 와인을 생산해 왔다. 1991년 회사를 이어받은 그의 아들 필립 모레(Philippe Maurer)는 제초제와 합성 용품의 사용을 줄이면서 바이오다이내믹 생태영농 관행을 적용하며 유기농(BIO) 경작으로 순혈종 알자스 테루아를 표현했다. #크로스비트레이딩

#프로세코의 원조, 까르페네 말볼티
현대적 프로세코가 높은 품질을 유지할 수 있게 해준 결정적인 요인은, 1876년에 이 생산 지역에 설립된 농과대학(Scuola enologica di Conegliano) 덕분이다. 이 학교는 현대적인 이탈리아의 와인 양조학을 이용하여 과학적이고 기술적인 연구를 해왔다. 이 대학의 중심 인물은 설립자인 안토니오 까르페네(Antonio Carpenè Sr, 1838~1902)다. 카르페네는 이탈리아도 훌륭한 스파클링을 생산할 수 있다는 확신을 가지고, 프랑스 샹파뉴와는 달리 압력탱크에서 재발효하는 방식을 고도화하기 위해 노력했다. 1868년 동료 프란체스코 말볼티(Francesco Maria Malvolti)와 함께 카르페네-말볼티(Carpenè Malvolti) 와이너리를 설립했다. 한국에도 수입되고 있는 이 회사 스파클링은 필자가 시음해 본 가장 깔끔하고 전형적인 특성을 간직한 프로세코다. 밝고 투명한 색상, 은빛 뉘앙스를 가진 투명한 노란색에 새하얀 거품이 풍부하다. 레몬과 청사과향이 근사한 청량감을 선사하며, 패션푸룻츠와 파인애플, 흰꽃 향기를 고상하게 연출했다. 입안에서는 작고 미세한 포말감과 입속에 감기는 촉감이 매력적이다.

지난 25년 동안 『와인 애드버킷』의 저자 겸 발행인으로 활동했다. 1999년, 파커는 와인 비평가로는 최초로 시라크 대통령으로부터 프랑스 최고의 영예인 레종 도뇌르 훈장을 받았다.1993년 미테랑 대통령은 그에게 프랑스의 또 다른 국가적 영예인 국가 유공 훈장을 수여했다. 또한 1998년에는 요리업계의 아카데미상이라 할 수 있는 제임스 비어드상 '탁월한 와인 및 와인 전문가 부문'을 수상하기도 했다. 지금까지 『부르고뉴』『론 밸리의 와인』 초판과 재판, 『파커의 와인 구매자 가이드』초판에서 6판까지를 포함해서 총 13권의 책을 저술했다. 현재 아내 패트리샤, 딸 마이어, 그리고 바셋 하운드와 영국산 불독 등 수많은 개들과 함께 메릴랜드 주 파크턴에 살고 있다.

Testamatta Bianco 2018 – Bibi Graetz
The nose is broad and intense, spreading notes of tropical fruits, cooked apples and ripe yellow peaches embellished with souvenirs of medicinal herbs.
