Sungkyunkwan University was founded in 1398 as the highest national educational institute in the early years of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. As the oldest university in East Asia, it has fostered leaders of our society for over 600 years. '修己治人,' pronounced as 'Su-Gi-Chi-In,' SKKU's main ideology, teaches that SKKU students strive to perfect themselves as leader and contribute to our society. This ideology is the fundamental principle by which SKKU brought up leaders of our society for over 600 years, thus contributing to evolution of our society. SKKU aims to educate future global leaders equipped with this ideology so that it will further contribute to the international society. Sungkyunkwan University, under the catch-phrase 'Unique Origin Unique Future,' continuously pursues to integrate its foundation philosophy with the modern technology with a view to cultivating global talents who will lead the 21st century. As a nation's highest educational institution, Old Sungkyunkwan went through vicissitudes with the country it served over the centuries. Though a long history alone cannot guarantee the excellence of an institution, the rich culture, which exudes from a long tradition, is surely a unique and valuable asset of the University. It would be misleading, however, to view the University merely in the context of its pre-modern history. We take pride in the University's innovative spirit; as a result of the long efforts to place natural sciences on an equal footing with our strong foundation in humanities, we now operate two campuses: the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus and the Natural Sciences Campus. Based on a highly successful partnership with Samsung which has generously funded several core initiatives, the University has been rapidly developing and prospering since 1996.

지난 7월 2일, 자연과학캠퍼스 의학관 송천기념강의실에서 경동제약 류덕희 회장(화학56, 명예경영학박사)과 류기성 대표(IMBA07(석사), 법학21(박사))의 발전기금 전달식이 열렸습니다.

이번 기부액은 2억 7천만 원으로, 특히 올해는 류덕희 회장이 우리 대학에 입학한 지 70주년이 되는 뜻깊은 해이면서 아들인 류기성 대표도 함께 기부를 실천하며 대를 이은 모교 사랑을 보여주었습니다. 류덕희 회장과 류기성 대표는 지금까지 우리 대학에 126억 원이 넘는 거액을 꾸준히 기부해 오며 모교 발전과 후학 양성에 큰 발자취를 남기고 있는데요. 이번 기부를 바탕으로 교육·연구 역량 강화는 물론, 학생 지원 확대, 시설·환경 개선 및 인프라 확충에 더욱 속도를 낼 예정입니다.

모교를 위한 사랑과 나눔에 다시 한번 감사드립니다!💚

On July 2, SKKU held a development fund donation ceremony with Chairman Ryu Deok-Hee (Chemistry, Class of 1956; Honorary Doctor of Business Administration) and CEO Ryu Ki-Sung (IMBA, Class of 2007; Ph.D. in Law, Class of 2021) of KyungDong Pharm.

This year's donation of KRW 270 million carries special meaning, as it marks the 70th anniversary of Chairman Ryu's admission to SKKU. Joined by his son, CEO Ryu Ki-Sung, the family once again demonstrated their enduring commitment to their alma mater.

Together, they have contributed more than KRW 12.6 billion to SKKU over the years, leaving a lasting legacy in advancing the University and supporting future generations of students. Their generous gift will further strengthen education and research, expand student support, and enhance campus facilities and infrastructure.

Thank you once again for your unwavering generosity and love for SKKU.💚
