It means “without an end,” from 끝 (end) and 없이 (without).

“Ha-doo-weo-jin Hap-gil so-se” —

That line is meant to be 어두워진 앞길 속에 —
Which means: “in the future/front path that became dark.”
But if you’re hearing H sounds where there shouldn’t be any… you’re not alone.

🎨 The Words We Keep: 단색화, 보라빛 밤, and Artistic Pride 🇰🇷

This week on our community site, I shared a moment that really made me think about language, culture, and art.

From a docent tour explaining why 단색화 (Dansaekhwa) couldn’t simply be called “monochrome painting,” to Sunmi’s music video titled “pporappippam” instead of “Purple Night,” I saw how Korean artists are choosing to keep their own words — and their artistic identity — intact.

It reminded me of how powerful it is to stand by your own language and culture, rather than bending to fit someone else’s expectations.

Candy Moments: A Trip Down Memory Lane with “사탕을 까다.”
I spotted a little girl wrestling with her candy wrapper, and it brought me right back to my own childhood (and parenthood!). In Korean, we say 사탕을 까다 to mean “unwrap candy,” but interestingly, this verb is used specifically for candy, not for gifts or other items. Hearing a dad remind his toddler “this is the last one” was so nostalgic—and a sweet reminder that sometimes life’s most heartwarming lessons come from the simplest everyday moments.
