To all of the beloved participants, thank you for joining us at the 4th Korea Debate Open this year, hosted by Sogang University and organized by Debate for All.

Albeit short, we hope that this weekend was a great opportunity for you to make new friends and reunite with old ones, gain some new insight on our understanding of the world, and to learn from each other.

Registration starts at exactly 8:00 A.M. Please do not be late, and we will see all of you tomorrow!

*In addition, we will not be providing plastic water bottles throughout the tournament in order to cut down as much environmental waste of plastic bottles as possible. Instead, we will have water fountains dispatched in the hallways of the main venue, so we highly recommend the participants to bring your own reusable water bottles! Let's put our eco-friendly values from the debate chamber into real action, thank you for your understanding! 🌳💚😊

This year, we have been extremely fortunate to be joined by a group of very qualified and dedicated adjudicators, both from within and outside of Korea, who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help render the 4th Korea Debate Open into a success! [Novice League]

Hello!

We are extremely thrilled to introduce a Novice Category and would like to welcome Novice debaters to participate and be a part of this year’s Korea Debate Open! :)

Our intent behind the Novice Category is to ensure a due recognition and celebration for those that are new to the activity of debate and freshly joining our debate community, while at the same time, guaranteeing that they can still be exposed to a competitive atmosphere of debate. To this end, we would like to introduce a Novice Grand Finals (may be expanded depending on the final number of registered Novice teams) and 5 Novice Best Speaker awards!

You are a novice debater if you are a university student and qualify for BOTH of these standards:
1. Debated in collegiate-level for less than 1 year
2. Broke at NO MORE THAN two collegiate-level tournaments as a debater
- Breaks do not include Rookie Tournaments, reserved breaks, rookie breaks
- Breaks do include all competitive collegiate-level tournaments (both EFL/ESL breaks at an international tournament)

For those of you that have already registered as novice teams/debaters, the Adj Core will evaluate the qualifications and inform you on your Novice status on Day 1.
