We are pleased to announce the 14th International Design Culture Conference(IDCC) at MoA Seoul National University Museum of Art.
Please come and share your ideas and thoughts about design!

IDCC is an annual conference that is hosted by College of Fine Arts(Design Major) since 2003.

Theme of this year's conference is "Playful Sensitivity & Functional Nationality." We have invited three guest speakers from different continents. Following is the description about the conference.

Design is the process of harmonious imagination, integration and creation of diverse creative potentials between art and science, emotion and rationality. The 14th International Design Culture Conference invites the Italian design guru Alessandro Mendini who noticed ‘value’ and ‘sensitivity’ as the core of design, and Josh Owen, the winner of several international design awards whose design is based on ‘originality’ and ‘functionality’ of our daily lives, and design critic Kyungwon Choi who reads out the essence of design, to discover diverse spectrum of design which exist between playful sensitivity and functional rationality.

서울대학교 디자인학부 IDCC ‘즐거운 유희(樂)와 의미있는 기능(用)’ 컨퍼런스에 초대합니다.

서울대 디자인학부는 2003년부터 매년 IDCC (International Design Culture Conference)를 개최하여, 빌모그리지, 에지오 만지니, 후카사와 나오토, 하태석 등 세계적 디자인 거장들과 디자인의 역할과 미래의 방향성을 디자이너를 꿈꾸는 학생들과 고민하여 왔습니다. 디자인은 서로 상반되어 보이는 예술과 과학, 감성과 이성 사이의 다양한 창의적 가능성을 조화롭게 상상하고 융합하여 창조하는 과정입니다. 이번 국제 컨퍼런스는 ‘가치’와 ‘감수성’을 디자인 중심으로 자리 매김한 세계적 거장 알레산드로 멘디니(Alessandro Mendini), 우리 생활을 ‘본질’과 ‘합리성’에 기반한 이상적 형태를 디자인하는 조시 오웬(Josh Owen), 그리고 디자인의 본질을 읽어내는 디자인평론가 최경원을 초빙하여, 유희적 감수성과 기능적 합리성 사이의 존재하는 다양한 디자인 스펙트럼을 탐색하는 흥미로운 시간이 될 것입니다. 디자이너를 꿈꾸는 학생은 누구나 참여 가능합니다.
