We’re hosting a Post-Election Party at World Beer in Sinchon tonight! We know it’s getting close to finals time, but we hope everyone comes out in a show of unity for whoever the new GSA Executive team is (besides, a beer or 10 never hurt anyone).

We’ll start the vote counting tonight at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to wait in the GSIS Lounge on the 4th floor for the results announcement (we’ll announce here on FB as well), which will take place most likely between 630 and 700.

Don’t forgot: Tomorrow we will host the Dialogue with the Dean in NMH Room 111 from 6pm to 730pm. Come out and share you concerns about the school and give feedback directly to the dean in a open, townhall-style setting. All GSIS students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

As an added incentive to stop by, do note that it is customary for the dean to buy snacks for those in attendance (usually pizza).

Hi everyone,

The 2013 GSA Executive Elections Debate is set for Friday, December 6th from 530pm to 7pm. Stop by and listen to the candidates discuss the issues that will affect you during the next semester. You'll also have a chance to ask questions.

After the debate, we will head as a group to Gangnam for Alumni Night (starting at 8pm at Big Rock…join the Facebook event group for more details)! Should make for an exciting Friday evening.

Campaign Week (12/2 to 12/6): Candidates will be in the lobby of NMH campaigning from 9am to 6pm each day. Stop by their tables, talk with them directly, read their literature, and make an informed choice for the future of GSA and the school.

Voting Week (12/9 to 12/11): Stop by the voting booth in the NMH lobby to cast your ballot. Polls will be open from 9am to 6pm each day.

Results Announcement (12/11): Polls close at 6pm. Counting will take 30 to 45 minutes. Results will be announced in the GSIS Lounge in the 4th floor, followed by a victory party.

Hope to see everyone participating!

The official Fall 2013 GSA Executive Elections application form is now available (see link below). Download, fill out, and submit the form to either [email protected] or drop it off in person to the GSA office. The deadline for registration is Sunday, November 24th at 6pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The rules are:

1) All currently-enrolled fulltime M.A. GSIS students who will continue to be fulltime students next semester (taking 9+ credits) are eligible to run, including students currently completing their first semesters, students who are not currently on GSA, and even students who have never attended a school function.

2) PhD students, exchange students, students taking a leave of absence, and non-degree students are not eligible to run.

3) You must run as a team of no more or no less than 3 team members. Individual candidacies are prohibited.

4) You may not be part of more than one team.

5) There is no limit to the total number of teams that can run in the elections.

6) The official GSA Election Bylaws will be strictly adhered to at all times during the campaign period and interpretation of the bylaws is solely at the discretion of the election arbitrator. No exceptions.

7) Please be aware that being a GSA Executive does require a time of commitment of 20 or more hours per week, and may require visits to off-campus venues, meetings with GSA leaders from other schools, frequent meetings with the dean of GSIS and other school officials, as well as other responsibilities. If you are unable to fulfill these obligations to the best of your abilities on a regular basis, we kindly request that you refrain from participation.

The GSA president will receive a full-ride scholarship next semester. Both vice presidents will get half tuition waivers.

The official announcement of candidate teams will be made on Monday, November 25th.

If you have any questions about the process or about being a GSA executive, feel free to pop into the GSA office anytime and ask away.

Good luck to everyone!
