Check out our very own Professor Joseph Kim's interview by KoreanAmericanStory.org
“…those choices really give me a sense of power, whether I made the wrong or right choices, that’s secondary. But the fact that I can make this choice… my Korean-American story is that I felt empowered to lead a successful life.”

Now that the world is getting vaccinated and we can hopefully go back to more in-person meetings, learning how to introduce yourself properly in the English language becomes even more important in an international context.
Here is our full corporate training video on "How to do a proper handshake."
We have used this particular content with corporations such as Samsung, Nike, Havas, Changshin, Footstool, Grace and Mercy, and to MBA students from Sungkyunkwan, Singapore Management, CUHK, Fudan, UVictoria, Montpellier, and Monash. Most of the MBA students were surprised at the detail of something as simple as a handshake.
In this video we will give you a full detailed breakdown of how to do a proper handshake. This video will be particularly useful to anyone who is from a non-Western culture that did not grow up doing handshakes or just anyone who feels awkward doing a handshake.

For the first time, I share this full video from my corporate training on how to tell a work story. This often comes in this form:
"Tell me about yourself."
I take you step by step and give you a specific formula as it relates to a work story. This process can help you maximize your chances to talk about yourself in a job interview, pitch, or any type of presentation. I have used this training at large corporations such as Nike, Samsung, and Havas and it is particularly useful to have your work story prepared in advance. Learning the art of talking about yourself in an artful way without bragging or over exaggerating is a skill just like dunking a basketball or doing the tango. You CAN learn this skill with enough practice and these tips.
Good luck!

The Covid-19 Corona virus has impacted all of us in some form or another. I came upon an excellent speech by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, and I noticed that he excelled in many of the areas of the Power7.
First, his posture (movement #1) was quite straight for someone who is almost 70. His shoulders are for the most part back, and aligned with his ears. This is exactly the kind of posture we need if we want to tell others that we are confident and assured of our own abilities.
Next, his voice (movement #6). He spoke very clearly and paused at many key points. Even though he may have spoken a little faster than normal, since he was trying to convey a lot of information in a short time, he was quite effective in his speech due to his pauses. He paused not only for dramatic effect, but also to break up longer sentences into easy-to-digest parts. This is an excellent technique to make sure the other party is able to understand your key ideas.
Finally, he really nailed the 40% smile (movement #7). Although he was not smiling with his mouth due to the serious nature of the topic, he was clearly raising his eye brows and opening his eyes wide. This is the 40% smile, smiling with the top 40% of your face and not the bottom 60%. This shows the other person that you are fully present and are paying attention to them.
A few areas of non-verbal communication he could work on would be his head movement (movement #4) and his stance (movement #2).
If other world leaders would also show their excellent policies and communicate it very clearly in a way that shows they really do care about the matter like Prime Minister Lee, I'm sure it would reassure so many in their nations. I have much respect for PM Lee not only in his verbal content, but in how he was able to speak very effectively in verbal AND non-verbal communication.
If you too would like to speak with power and confidence like PM Lee, then come visit us (link in the comments below) and check out my FREE video. In it I explain clearly why it is that non-verbal communication is so important in our communication. I also show you how to communicate with power and confidence in any situation, including presentations and speeches.
I hope you are safe and healthy where ever you are.
Always cheering for you,
Joe

For 2020, what if you could have confidence like Elon Musk of TESLA?
Researchers from Ohio State University "found that people who were told to sit up straight were more likely to believe thoughts they wrote down while in that posture concerning whether they were qualified for a job." (article linked below)
In other words, strong posture CAN impact our confidence in positive ways just as weak posture can also impact our confidence in negative ways. Of course confidence doesnt give us magical powers nor does raising our confidence mean that we will have the drive, ambition, talent, and other factors that have propelled Elon Musk to great success. However, more confidence in our lives can impact so much of what we do on a day to day basis in a positive way.
Should I ask my boss for a raise? Should I apply for that scholarship? Should I confront that person who has been bothering me at work? Should I have that difficult conversation with my parents? Should I ask that woman out on a date?
The aforementioned situations could not be actualized unless we have the confidence to go forward and actually answer YES.
I've attached an excerpt from my book "Power7: Raising your Internal Power" on the confidence of Elon Musk. I hope you too can have the confidence to go forward in your life and not live a life of fear and regret but one of strength and conviction. A first step to increased confidence is to stand or sit up straight with your shoulders back, just like Elon Musk.
If you would like help in raising your confidence, come visit us at https://www.power-7.com/limited-promotion for a special promotional rate of only $99 for our entire video series for life!
I will show you exactly how to sit, stand, and speak utilizing the Power7 method of non-verbal communication. You can learn the same techniques that I use in training executives from Nike, Havas, and Samsung. Imagine what your life could be in 2020 with greater confidence, power, and effectiveness!
Always cheering for you,
Joe
***This post is dedicated to my old high school and avowed TESLAvangelist friend Dr. Joseph Kim. We share the same name and a love for the entrepreneurial spirit of Elon Musk.***
