About Critical Rave Theory
‘크리티컬 레이브 띠오리(CRT)’는 서울의 활기찬 언더그라운드 음악씬에서 한 달 간 흑인 역사의 달을 기념합니다. 2월 한 달 간 CRT와 파트너 단체들은 서울의 다양한 문화 중심지에서 8개 행사를 개최하며 현재 언더그라운드 음악씬에서 적극적으로 활동하고 있는 30명 이상의 로컬 아티스트가 참여합니다. House, Hip-Hop, Afrotech, GQOM장르에 이르기까지 각 행사는 흑인 예술과 역사를 조명하면서 흑인 DJ와 한국인 DJ와의 협력을 추구합니다.
‘크리티컬 레이브 띠오리’라는 이름은 비판적 인종 이론(Critical Race Theory)에서 따온 이름입니다. 비판적 인종 이론은 인종이 사회, 정치, 언론 등에 어떤 영향을 주고, 또 받는지에 대서 살핍니다. 최근 백인 보수단체들은 비판적 인종 이론을 이용하여 미국 전역에서 앞서 언급한 주제를 학교 커리큘럼에서 금지하려고 해왔습니다. 흑인 역사를 외면하는 대신 크리티컬 레이브 띠오리는 한국 언더그라운드 음악씬에 댄스 음악과 우리가 사랑하는 장르들의 진화에 있어 흑인 역사의 역할에 대해 알립니다.
Critical Rave Theory (CRT) is a month long celebration of Black History Month within Seoul’s vibrant underground music scene. Throughout the month of February, CRT and their partners will host a series of 8 events at various cultural mainstays throughout the city, and will feature 30+ local artists who are currently breathing life into the underground music scene. With genres ranging from house and hip hop to AfroTech and Gqom, each event aims to highlight Black art and history while promoting collaboration between Black and Korean DJs in the scene.
The name, Critical Rave Theory, is derivative of the term “Critical Race Theory,” a concept that examines how race influences, and is influenced by, society, politics, and media. Recently, White conservative groups have been using the term Critical Race Theory to politicize black history and ban these topics from school curriculums nationwide. Rather than silence Black history, Critical Rave Theory attempts to educate our scene on its role in the evolution of dance music and the genres we love.

The third party of “CCC,” welcoming us at the Dirty Rose Club, is a networking event for individuals who love and appreciate culture. With the backdrop of a cooling autumn night, we will be graced by the performances of three LIVE teams and the collaborative DJ sets of 11 DJs, creating a warm atmosphere. In this gathering, where diverse enjoyment and artistic experiences await, let’s share many stories together.

“Cross Character Combine” is an underground dance music party centered on Seoul that combines various genres based on hip-hop to give audiences a new sound.
DJs‘ selections of songs and remixes themselves show off the charm of underground dance music and provide a different sound to party attendees.

더티로즈클럽에서 맞이하는 “CCC”의 세 번째 파티는 문화를 사랑하고 즐기는 사람들 간의 네트워킹 파티로, 우리가 함께 하는 가을밤을 따뜻하게 만들어줄 LIVE 공연 3팀과 11명 디제이들의 B to B가 함께합니다. 다채로운 즐거움과 예술적 경험을 누릴 수 있는 자리에서 많은 이야기를 나누어요.
