리라초등학교의 탄생:

교육과 자녀 사랑에 남다른 권응팔 선생님은 1965년 큰딸인 '권리라'양의초등학교 입학을 기념으로 학교를 설립하고, 학교 이름도 '리라'양의 이름으로 하였다. 대부분의 사립학교가 설립자의 이름이나 호를 교명으로 사용하고 있으나, 딸의 이름을 교명으로 선택한 것은 자녀사랑, 어린이 사랑의 본보기라 할 수 있으며, 그러기에 리라초등학교를 어린이의 천국으로 만든것이다.

최민수, 박시은, 도지원, 오진환, 김현철, 류시현, 현진영, 이재은, 하유미 등과 체육계 스타들을 비롯해 이명박 대통령의 딸도 유명한 리라초등학교출신으로 손꼽히고있다.
