K-Arts Creative Studio

In addition to the physical meaning of the creative space, K-Arts Creative Studio is a place where artists can experience new environments and create new relationships, as well as become a driving force for creation. Until we become accustomed to newness and can understand the environment and people, we take the trouble of putting time and effort into it. The K-Arts Creative Studio Exhibition of Results Report is a place to share the fruits of the creation of each of the eighth-term resident artists who have worked hard over the past year, and we hope to share the kind, sweet, and warm feelings we have conveyed to each other here until each of us gets used to it. I hope these times will be remembered as moments when we welcomed each other and welcomed each other.

창작스튜디오는 작가에게 창작공간이라는 물리적인 의미 이외에도, 새로운 환경을 접하고 새로운 관계를 만들어 갈 수 있는 기회이자 창작의 동력이 될 수 있는 곳이다. 새로움에 익숙해지고 환경과 사람을 이해할 수 있을 때까지 우리는 시간과 노력을 들여야 하는 수고스러움을 감수하게 된다. K’ARTS 미술원 창작스튜디오 결과보고전은 지난 1년 동안 노력한 8기 입주작가 개개인의 창작의 결실을 공유하는 자리이자, 우리 각자가 익숙해지기까지 이곳에서 서로에게 전하고 느꼈던 다정하고, 상냥한, 따뜻한 감정을 공유하는 자리가 되기를 희망한다. 이 시간들이 서로를 환대하고, 서로에게 환영받은 순간들로 기억되기를 바란다.

2024년 K’ARTS 미술원 창작스튜디오 9기 입주작가 공모

한국예술종합학교 미술원 부설 창작스튜디오에서 아래와 같이 입주 작가를 공모합니다. 예술학교 내에 마련된 본 프로그램은 시각예술 분야 석사 후 과정에 준하는 것으로 작가 스스로 창작 연구 과제를 설정하고 진행하여 창작물을 발표합니다. 본인의 작품 활동과 연계된 연구 계획이 있으신 작가 여러분들의 많은 지원을 기대합니다.

공모 부문: 평면조형 / 입체조형 / 매체미술(사진,비디오,인터미디어) /도자유리 총 4분야

모집정원: 각 분야에서 2명씩 선발

입주기간: 2024년 3월 - 2025년 2월 (1년)

입주장소: 한국예술종합학교 석관동캠퍼스 창조관 2층(평면,입체,매체 분야) / 송추공방동 작업실(도자•유리)

신청자격: 학사 졸업 후 시각 예술분야 활동 3년 이상 또는석사 졸업 후 시각 예술분야 활동 1년 이상

1. What is the K-Arts Creative Studio?
The K-Arts Creative Studio is a one-year artist residency (2 March to February’s end) run by the Korea National University of Arts.

2. Where is the K-Arts Creative Studio?
Changjogwan 2F, 146-37, Hwarang-ro 32-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul

Here's how to get here by subway. When you get off at Incheon International Airport (or Kimpo International Airport), you can take the airport railroad, transfer to Line 6 at Gongdeok Station, and get off at Sangwolgok Station. The university is a ten-minute walk from exit 3.

3. What are the K-Arts Creative Studio residency application dates and who can apply?
The 2024 residency application dates are from January 20 to 31, 2024. After the first document screening, the artists will be contacted before 8 February to schedule an interview. The final decisions will be made, and the artists notified before the end of February.
Eligibility for application is at least three years of professional experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least one year of professional experience with a Master’s Degree.

4. Is there an application fee?
No, there is no application fee.

5. How are artists selected for the residency?
Decisions are made based on a review of the documents and an interview by professors in the Department of Fine Arts at the Korea National University of Arts.

6. When will I hear back? What is the decision-making timeline?
The application deadline is January 31, 2024. Artists who apply for the residency will be informed of our decisions before the end of February, 2024.

7. How should I submit with my application?
Application guidelines are as follows.

※ Please submit a Powerpoint file with a maximum of 20 slides.

You may submit up to 20 slides in any combination of jpegs, audio files or video files. Audio or video submissions should not exceed 10 minutes in length. The maximum file size limit for any individual work submission is 400mb. Your TOTAL submission with your application must not exceed 800mb.

8. Can I edit my application after it has been submitted?
Applications cannot be edited once they are submitted.

9. What if I have technical problems with the submittable application?
All technical questions should be sent to [email protected] or [email protected]

10. How long is the residency?
The residency begins on the second of March and runs to the end of the following February.

11. Am I required to make art during the residency?
Yes. You are required to make art during the residency. After the residency, there will be an exhibition of the work produced in the year.

12. What does K-Arts Creative Studio provide?

어느덧 한국예술종합학교 미술원 창작스튜디오에서의 활동이 막바지를 향해 가고 있습니다. 지난 1년 동안 창작스튜디오에서의 시간은 어떠셨을까요. 매초 매분을 우리는 거의 의식하지 못하고 살아가지만, 그 시간들이 쌓여서 지금의 그리고 내일의 우리를 만드는 것 같습니다.
미술원 창작스튜디오는 대학에서 공식적으로 운영하는 창작공간으로 대학 캠퍼스 안에 있기 때문에 다른 레지던시와 차별성을 갖는 것 같습니다. 창작 활동 뿐만 아니라 활동의 레퍼런스나 영감을 구할 수 있는 공간이기도 하고, 타 매체와의 교류를 통해 각자의 창작 영역을 넓힐 수 있는 기회도 가져올 수 있습니다.
지난 1년간 입주작가들과, 캠퍼스 안에서 만난 예비 창작자들과, 도서관에서 발견한 창작의 영감들이 교차하면서 창작의 방향성을 찾아갈 수 있는 시간이었기를 바래 봅니다. 그 교차의 흔적들을 서로 확인하고, 이해할 수 있는 자리를 청하고자 합니다. 감사합니다.
