ICKS was established as a division of the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies (KIKS) to promote international exchange in Korean Studies.

ICKS was established in November 2007 as a division of the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies (KIKS) to promote international exchange in Korean Studies. The result of a merger between the Kyujanggak archives and the Institute of Korean Studies, KIKS quickly established itself as the hub of Korean Studies in Seoul National University; but there was still an urgent need for a center that can m

anage and coordinate the international exchanges of KIKS. The mission of ICKS, therefore, is to support and coordinate various international exchanges related to Korean Studies in SNU. In addition to disseminating the research findings of KIKS to scholars and institutions abroad, ICKS supports the exchanges between researchers in Korean Studies.

The 18th Kyujanggak International Symposium on Korean Studies

The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies at Seoul National University is pleased to announce the 18th Kyujanggak International Symposium on Korean Studies, to be held as follows.
This year’s symposium will bring together approximately 80 presenters and discussants from Korea and abroad, featuring 15 in-person panels that will engage in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics in Korean Studies.
* Please note that the joint panel organized by the Departments of Korean History and Korean Language & Literature on Saturday, November 8, will be held at the College of Humanities, Seoul National University.

서울대학교 규장각한국학연구원 국제한국학센터에서 2025년 11월 6일(목)부터 8일(토)까지 개최되는 제18회 규장각 한국학 국제심포지엄의 발표자를 모집합니다.
이번 심포지엄은 전면 대면 행사로 진행되며, 한국학 전반에 걸친 자유로운 주제를 다루는 발표를 국내외 연구자들로부터 받습니다. 획기적이거나 비교사적인 접근, 동아시아 또는 글로벌 관점을 반영한 연구 발표를 특히 환영합니다. 이번 공고를 통해 모집하는 발표는 11월 6일(목)과 7일(금), 양일간 진행될 예정입니다.

The International Center for Korean Studies at Kyujanggak, Seoul National University is pleased to invite applications for the 18th Kyujanggak International Symposium on Korean Studies, to be held November 6 (Thu) to 8 (Sat), 2025.
This fully in-person symposium will feature presentations on a wide range of topics in Korean Studies. We welcome proposals that are innovative, interdisciplinary, and comparative, especially those addressing broader East Asian or global contexts. Presentations recruited through this call will be scheduled over two days, November 6 (Thu) and 7 (Fri).
Domestic presenters will receive an honorarium of KRW 300,000, and international presenters may be reimbursed up to KRW 1,500,000 (including airfare and lodging). Outstanding papers will be considered for publication in an edited English-language volume in collaboration with an international publisher such as Routledge, or in journals published by the Institute.
