We call a person who is very talented in many fields 팔방미인 [Pal-bang-mi-in] in Korean. It literally means that he or she looks beautiful from 8 directions (meaning all dimensions) and it is used very positive way. 열다, "open", “開ける”

You know “열다” in Korean ?
It is In English “open” and in Japanese “開ける”
However, we have some other words for “open” in Korean.
it is 열다 when we say, “open the door” but, it is 뜨다 for open your eyes and it is 펴다 for open your book. Like this, although the meaning seems similar, we use the different words depending on the situation in Korean.

줄임말

In Korean, we sometimes use short words(abbreviated words) instead of the full words . Here we have some examples for those words. For 스타벅스, we say 스벅, for 아르바이트, we say 알바, for 엘리베이터, we say 엘베 and for 프로필사진, we say 프사.. But not all the time. We call smart phone as 스마트폰.
Using short words takes less energy to pronounce and still enough to deliver the meaning. Try using the abbreviated Korean words. Maybe you will find it very convenient.
