If there is a vowel immediately after a consonant, it flows through that, so the ㅈ will attach itself to the vowel in the next syllable for speaking purposes. If it's followed immediately by a consonant or ends the word, you have to cut the sound, so it will sound like a ㄷ.If you learn the names of the consonants, I feel like it helps a lot with final sounds, because the names of the consonants begin and end with themselves.
