The Highlights of the Lim Cup, the French Club Championship will be broadcasted tonight on twitch ( twitch.tv/bibalive )! At midnight in Korean time (GMT+9)!
We are planning to check 3 games from this event!
One game from our Online Teaching student:
Tanguy Le Calvé vs Benoit Roturier
and Two games from the final round
1st board: Hwang Inseong vs Tanguy Le Calvé
Motoki Noguchi vs Benjamin Dréan-Guénaïzia
Few words about the tournament:
The French Club Championship (also known as the Lim Cup) has been organized since 2003 and is a tournament where all Go clubs from France compete in teams (with 4 players in each team). The name Lim Cup was chosen as a homage to Mister Lim Yoojong, a Korean 5d who moved to France in the 60s to work and ended up teaching dozens of young French Go players. His teachings paved the way for what is now the French Go Federation. This year, the best 6 teams could play in League 1 (Grenoble, Nantes, Aligre, Toulouse, COP and Orsay) while 18 teams were competing in League 2. For the past 5 years, Grenoble have been the champions, with strong players such as Hwang Inseong (8d) and Motoki Noguchi (7d) in their team. Nantes also brought a very decent team led by Tanguy Le Calvé (1p) with Benjamin Dréan-Guénaïzia (6d) on their 2nd board. The final between these two teams occurred in the last round, where Grenoble was the favorite but Nantes only needed a draw to win the whole competition.
Join us tonight to see what happened in the final!
